Mr. and Mrs. Albert M. Jordan of Walnut Lake, Birmingham, on the Honor Roll campaign this
had as their guests, Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Weiss and daughter,
Mildred, of Pittsburgh.
Louis J. Gordon spent the Labor Day holiday with his parents,
Mr. and Mrs. Abe Gordon of Webb Ave. Mr. Gordon, recently com-
pleted a special reportorial assignment for the Nashville Tennessean,
P. M. and General Newspapers, Inc. He has returned to his home
at Hay-Adams House, Washington, D. C.

Mr. and Mrs. Julius Lorig of LaSalle Blvd., are vacationing in
Los Angeles and San Francisco.
Mr. and Mrs. Dave Isaacson of the Bronx, New York, were
guests at the wedding of ,Harry Weingarden, son of Mr. a.nd Mrs.
Charles Weingarden. They will vacation in Detroit for the next
three weeks.
The Misses Jewel and Marilyn Klein of Monterey Ave. have had
as their guest Miss Ruth Margaretten of New York. Miss Jewel
Klein recently visited with her relatives, the Horowitzes and Mar-
garettens, in New York.
Nancy, daughter of Mr. andfMrs. Bernard H. Bloch of Muirland
Ave. spent the summer at Camp Pinemere, Minocqua, Wis. Mr. and
Mrs. Robert Scheffres and daughter, Harriett, of Chicago, were
guests for the week of Mr. and Mrs. Bloch.
Mr. and Mrs. Ben Leader of 1710 Webb returned from visits
with their families in New York and Boston.
Sandy Brown, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John L. Brown of
Strathcona Drive, arrived home after spending the summer months
at Camp Aganac, Monocqua, Wis.
Mr. and. Mrs. James Paul Buhai of Winnetka, Ill., spent the
Labor Day week-end with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. John L.
Brown of Strathcona Drive.
Mr. and Mrs. David A. Levine, of Burlingame Ave., will visit
their two sons in Champaign, Ill., next week end. Herschel H. Levine
will be graduated from the University of Illinois in Champaign on
Sept. 15. Seymour J. Levine is a -student at the University in • the
college of architecture and design.
Mrs. Mary Rich of Blaine Ave. announces the engagement of
her daughter, Ida, to Milton Freedman, son of Mr. and Mrs. Mayer
Freedman of Genessee Ave. The bride_elect attended Wayne Uni-
versity and is affiliated with Iota Alpha Pi, national Jewish sorority.
Her fiance was recently discharged from service. The wedding date
has been set for Jan. 12.
Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Rickman of Parkside Ave. have as their
guest their cousin, Hinda Abrams of Toronto.
Mr. and Mrs. Mac Cushman and son, Lowell, and her mother,
Mrs. Pearl Strohl, are spending the 'summer at Alarison, Mich. They
have as their guest Mrs. Harry Silverman of Buena Vista Ave. The
Mark Denby family of Detroit as well as Jean and George Van Kirk
of Chicago are spending a week with them. They will return about
Sept. 15.
Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Sandberg of 2717 Fullerton will hold open
house Sunday, Sept. 8, from 4 to 10 p. m., in honor of their son,
Arthur, who recently returned from overseas service, and their
brother and sister-in-law, Levi and Esther Shapiro, who are here
on. a visit from Palestine. No cards.
Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Price, Jr., of Cleveland. 0., are visiting
with Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Levine and daughter, Marian. Mrs. Levine,
who has been ill for the past three weeks, is recovering.
Mrs. Samuel K. Gage of the Belcrest has returned home after
Vacationing at the Banff Springs Hotel and the Chateau Lake
Louise in the Canadian Rockies and at GlaCier National Park.
Mrs. Edward A. Roth of Fullerton Ave. will be home this week
after a three month visit with her. sister-in-law at the Langham
Hotel in Los Angeles, Calif.
Mr. and Mrs. Louis Langham of Gladstone Ave. have left for a
visit with relatives in New York.
Joseph L. Warner and Warren Weil have left on a two weeks'
motor trip through the New England States and will return home
by way of Quebec and Canada.
Mr. and Mrs. Ben Schneider of Richton Ave. gave a dinner party
for 25 guests, at the Statler, on Aug. 22, in honor of the 16th
birthday of their daughter, Rosalyn.
Mr. and Mrs. Louis Gedanke of Richton Ave. have as their
guests Mr. and Mrs. Michael Rubin of New York City. Mrs. Rubin
visited in Montreal, Quebec, and Dayton, 0., before being joined
here by Mr. Rubin.
In honor of their three sons, Seymour, Avery and Melvin, and
their veteran_ friends who have recently returned from the service,
a party celebrating the first anniversary of V-J Day was given at
their cottage at Woodhall Lake, by Mr. and Mrs. Kolman Shapiro.
Mr. and Mrs. David Davis of the Alden. Park Manor have re-
turned from a month's stay in Maine.

ROME, (JTA)—Sveral Italian
families, including 12 women and
14 men, living in the town of San
Nykandro, near Foggia, adopted
