ACTIVITIES IN SOCIETY

Dr. and Mrs. H. Herbert Cohen of Calvert Ave. spent the last
week-end in Chicago, where they attended the wedding of their
cousin and the post-war reunion of their friends: Dr. and Mrs.
Charles Katz, Dr. and Mrs. Leonard Kolb, and Dr. Bernard Schaffer—
all the doctors having served in the armed forces overseas.
Leo Michelson and his daughter, Alyce, are spending a week at
the Colonial hotel, Mt. Clemens.
Mrs. Mollie Guttman and daughter, Zadette, of Los Angeles
arrived here to attend the dinner dance to be given on Sept. 7 by
Mr. and Mrs. Jack Dunn in honor of the Bar Mitzvah of their
son, Stuart Alan.
Miss Beatrice Thurman of New York City has left to resume her
studies at Radcliffe College after visiting her cousins, the Jordans,
at Walnut Lake,.Birmingham.
- Mr. and Mrs. Louis Langsam of Gladstone Ave. have left for a
visit with relatives in New York.
Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Hack (Margie Agree) are spending the
week-end in Chicago.
Mrs. Lena Agree left for a week's stay in Chicago where she
will visit with her daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Richard
Irwin (Dorothy Agree).
Mr. and Mrs. Harry Katzman and daughter of 17530 Santa
Barbara are vacationing in Charlevoix.
Mr. and Mrs. Charles E. Sovel and sons, Robert and Donald, of
2695 Burlingame returned from a stay in Tawas, Mich.
Miss Joan Optowsky of New Orleans, La., house guest of Miss
Marilyn S. Klein of Wisconsin Ave., will remain here over the
Labor Day week-end.
, Mrs. Benjamin Baranoff of 17149 Prairie is on a two-months
vacation in West Long Beach, N. Y. Mr. Baranoff will join her on
Sept. 6 for a trip to Mexico and Canada and they will return home
in October.
Mr. and Mrs. George D. Blumenthal of Second Ave_ returned
from a few weeys' stay at Manor Richelieu, Murray Bay, Canada.
Miss Sally E. Lichtig of Glynn Ct. returned from a 10-day stay
at her aunt's summer home at Kilarney Beach, Bay City, Mich.
Marvin Bernstein of Joy Rd. left for Washington and New York
for two weeks. -
The Misses Minnie Bernstein, Sybil Moss and Joyice Gittlemen
will spend Labor Day week end at Sandusky and Cedar Point, Ohio.
Mr. and Mrs. Joseph H. LaPides and Mr. and Mrs. Louis Glie-
berman of Indiana Ave. have left for a two-week visit in New York
City.
Benn L. Zack is visiting his fiancee and is a guest of her parents,
Mr. and Mrs. Jose Robinson of Havana, Cuba.
Miss Belle Moskowitz of Blaine, Ave. is attending the American
Pharmaceutical convention at William Penn Hotel, Pittsburgh.
Miss Jan Fisher, having just returned from camp, is spending
the next 24 days with her parents. Mr. and Mrs. Harry H. Fisher,
in their new home at 18212 Etrathmoor Drive, before resuming her
studies at Michigan State College.
Returning to Detroit after having completed a month's training
for Zionist leadership at Brandeis Camp Institute in Pocono Mts.,
Pa., are Elaine E. Levin of Steel Ave., Adeline Subar of Blaine Ave.
and - Joseph Yanich of Leslie Ave. Miss Levin will spend a week
with her parents, Mr. and Mrs.. M. H. Levin before leaving for
Las Angeles where she will attend classes in Fashion
Designing at U.C.L.A. In California she will make her home with
her relations, Mr. and Mrs. Dave Freedman, 1123 S. Corning Ave.,
Los Angeles.

Women's Clubs

SHERUTH LEAGUE met at the
home of Jean Sucher, 17345 Ken-
tucky. Trudy Stearn, camp invest-
igator, reported that five children
were sent to :Fresh Air Camp,
three weeks each, completely out-
fitted. A cabaret style dance will
be held at the Detroiter Hotel
Dec. 8. Trudy Steam is chairman
of the project with the aid of the
following captains: Charlotte Lev-
itan, Bea Sher, Betty Sherman,
Judy Bader, Edith Mehler and
Shirley Foon. Shirley Cohen is
chairman of the cabaret dance.

Brith, will meet Wednesday, Sept.

WJLB Radio Series

The Detroit Section of the
American Jewish Congress will re-
sume its Saturday night radio
broadcasts over WJLB on Sept. 7
at 9:15 p. m. The series will be
directed by Harry M. Kaminer.
Important current events will be
discussed by prominent speakers.
The speaker on the opening pro-
gram will be Dr. Clarissa Fine-
man, who will discuss "The Amer-
ican Jewish Congress and its Po-
sition in the American Jewish
Community."
