Following Tisha• b'Ab, the day commemorating the destruction of the First and Second Temples in Jerusalem and a score of other Jewish tragedies, Sabbath .Nahantu heralds the undying faith of the Jewish people that Prophecy is not dead, that salvation will come for Israel, that the European survivors will be give'' homes and security, that God's word will prove more powerful than the powers of tyranny. The American Cabinet Committee headed by Henry F. Grady, called back to this country by President Truman after strong demands were made that the British proposal for the "federalization" of Palestine be rejected, is now conferring with the President, and there are new indications that a re- vised partition plan will be accepted by Jewish leaders, provided: 1. That 100,000 European: displaced Jews are admitted at once and unconditionally; 2. That territorial proposals be revised to enlarge Jewish territory, the Jewish "canton" to include all sections .where Jews_ are _now settled and the Negev, southern Palestine. 3.
