Enemy Countries; Call for Protection of Human
Rights for All Citizens

JERUSALEM,- (JTA)—Charges that Jewish curfew vio-
lators in this city are being bullied, beaten and tortured
have been made by the Jerusalem Jewish Community Coun-
cil. The Council called upon the government to stop such
practices which, it said, involved all sections of the Jewish
population including the aged and young children.

PARIS, (JTA)—The texts of the peace treaties with
Bulgaria, Fin] and, Hungary and Romania, made public here
by the Big Four powers, contain two identical articles call-
ing for guarantees of human rights and equal treatment
for all citizens.
The draft treaties, however, do not contain enforcement

provisions if the former enemy
signatory nations do not adhere
to the provisions of the two ar- ,
tid es. The guarantees are con- -1-1

Chicago JDA Rally

Aaron Droock of Detroit will be
one of the delegates at the first
meeting of the national executive

peal, to be held Aug. 16 to 18 at
Continental Hotel, Chicago.
The National Committee was
recently formed as a central plan-

of the Joint Defense Appeal,
which serves as the financial arm
of the American Jewish Commit-

League of Bnai Brith in their fight
against anti-Semitism.
The Chicago meeting will bring
together representative communal
leaders from every section of the
country, Donald Oberdorfer, na-

will attend a clinic on anti-Semit-

experts in the field who will dis-
cuss defense activities as main-

Campaign plans will also be re-

Ex-GI Puts Britain
To Shame in Poem

Written for Britain

Headline—"British forbid Palestine
troops to fraternize with Jews."

To the New York Herald Tribune:

You follow ancient patterns, forge
the steel
To time-worn manacles of shame.
The yoke
Fits perfectly, the gun, the whip,
the wheel
Are waiting to be used. Your leaders
stoke
-
The vicious fires, their evil magic
licks
Like panic at the mind. In sequence
comes
Your nimble devil-dance of politics.
The vile tattoo of words against the
drums.
Our delegates but shrug, the treaties
nod
Their paper heads and blow away.
(We thought
We blasted prejudice and hate, we
fought
Like fools to liberate the earth—By
God.
We fought for Britain and her Dover
cliffs,
Her "thousand pardons" and her
million Ifs!)
