24 Students at Beth Yehudah
Enrolled in Gemorah Class
N'west Congregation
Arranges Dedication
Services for Sept. 8
At a recent board meeting of
the directors of the Northwest He-
brew Congregation and Center and
at a meeting of the building com-
mittee, it was decided that the
dedication ceremonies would be
held on Sunday afternoon and
evening, Sept. 8.
The dedication will be symbol-
ized by ceremonies conducted in
the afternoon and to be followed
by a dinner in the evening in the
newly completed social hall.
An Ad-Book now being publish-
ed will be distributed at the dedi-
cation.
The building committee is pro-
ceeding under the chairmanship
of Maurice Karo with its work of
advancing the construction of the
upper two stories which will hold
the classrooms for the daily He-
brew school and Sunday school
classes.
G.EMORAH CLASS AT YESHIVATH BETH YEHUDATI
Visitors at Yeshivath Beth Ye-
hudah, Dexter and Cortland, dur-
ing the morning hours any week-
day since the end of June have
been thrilled to witness a group of
24 boys, their average age only 11,
bending over the folio volumns of
Bobo Metzio in the Babylonian
Talmud, deeply absorbed in the
study of the first chapter.
This group has been recruited
from several classes in the Yeshi-
vah and the Beth Yehudah Day
School, to launch a new Gemorah
class.
Their program includes morn-
ing services starting at 9 a. m.,
at which time the boys conduct
their own minyon, followed by
breakfast at the Yeshivah, after
which they begin their studies.

Teen-agers will hold a splash
party followed by dancing in the
Center's Intermediate Lounge on

place every Tuesday at 7:30 p. m.
On Thursdays at 8:30, dances for
teen-agers are held in the Center
court. Boys, 14-17, and girls, 14-15,
are invited.

At Center This Saturday
A dance under the stars will be
sponsored in the Center court this
Saturday, July 27 at 9 p. m. by
the Saturday Nite Committee,
headed by Miss Sylvia Weiss.

36,179 Participated In
Center Health Program
There were 36,179 participants
in the Center's health education
department program during the
first half of 1946, Sam Levy, di-
rector, announced. This attend-
ance figure _ is an all time high,
exceeding last year's mark by
11,000.
Over 1,500 war veterans, recip-
ients of free six month member-
ship, have availed themselves of
the Center's facilities.
More than 80 per cent of the
3,200 full members are active par-
ticipants. The average week-day
attendance of juniors in swim-
ming classes since school closed
and Camp Hobeihim opened is:

Attendance in the Men's Health
Club, January-June, 1946, was
10,004 as compared with 7,122 in
the similiar period last year. For
the same period, attendance in
the Womeri's Health Club was
1,666.
