Marriage Culminates
Childhood Romance

ACTIVITIES IN SOCIETY

Mr. and Mrs. David Sheraga, who for 30 years were prominent
in labor Zionist and American Jewish Congress activities in Detroit,
and who have made their home in Los Angeles for a year, were
guests here for two months. They returned to their Los Angeles home
last week.
Max Greenberg and daughter. Arline, of Outer Drive, spent the
week-end at Hill Top Inn in Charlevoix, Mich.
The Misses Mildred Backalar, Marilyn Boesky and Ruth Levin
returned after a three weeks' stay in Atlantic City and New York.
Mrs. Benjamin Lambert, Mrs. I. L. Polozker, Mrs. Monroe Rosen-
field and Mrs. Eugene Sloman, all of the Belcrest Hotel, left on Mon-
day for a stay at the Grand Hotel, Mackinac Island.
Mr. and Mrs. Henry Wineman of Hamilton Dr. and their son
and daughter-itt-law, Mr. and Mrs. James Wineman of Strathcona
Dr., left on Monday to attend the. Music Festival in the east.
Mr, and Mrs. William H. Frank of Wildemere Ave. left on
Saturday for Harrison, Me., where they will visit their son, Bill,
who is at Camp Wigman. Other Detroiters visiting their children
at the same camp include Dr. and Mrs. Nathan Schlafer of Wilde- .
mere Ave. and Mr. and Mrs. Harold Ziv of Wildemere Ave., who
are visiting Dale Schlafer and Alvin Ziv.
Mr. and Mrs. Henry Moses of Hamilton Dr. h'ave returned
from Gaylord where they spent a few days visiting Mrs. Moses'
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Wineman, at their cabin.
Marianne Shapero and Dene Laib, both of Strathcona Dr., are
on a week's trip to Yellowstone and Glazier National Parks and
the Grand Canyon.
Mr. and Mrs. Felix .Saltzsfon have returned to their home in
Chicago after a visit with Mrs. Saltzston's brother-in-law and sister,
Mr. and Mrs..Edward Rosenthal Jr,
Mr. and Mrs. Fred Ginsburg and their daughter of Chicago Blvd.
are guests at the Chateau Frontenac in Murray Bay, Quebec, Canada.
Miss Isabel Wolfner of Burlington Rd. is visiting with relatives
in St. Louis.
Mr. and Mrs. Jack Rothberg of Chicago Blvd. and Mr. and Mrs.
Emanuel Harris of Glouester Dr. left last week-end on the Saguenay
Cruise.
Clair Solomon of Burlingame Ave. is visiting her uncle and aunt,
Mr. and Mrs. Sidney Weisman, at their summer home in Beuhlah,
Michigan.
Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Simons...and daughter, Susan, of Parkside
Ave. have returned from a few" weeks' stay in Charlevoix.
Mr. and Mrs. Sylvan S. Grosner of Atkinson Ave. are spending
a fortnight in Atlantic City where they are guests at the Tray-
more Hotel.
Dr. and Mrs. Gerald Spero of Birchcrest Dr. have returned
from a stay in Bretton Woods, N. H.
Miss Jeannette Steinberg of New York spent a few days with
her brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Myron Steinberg of
Webb Ave., en-route home from. San Francisco.
Mr. and Mrs. Jay Alvin and their daughter, Phyllis, of Long-
fellow Ave. are spending the summer at Cedar Beach, Ont.
Miss Rena Flayer of Rochester Ave, has returned from an ex-
tended visit in Los Angeles.
Mrs. Joseph Levin of Boston Blvd. had as her guests last week
her daughters, Mrs. David A. Croli of Toronto and Mrs. Henry Yanow
of Rye, N. Y.
Mr. and Mrs. Maurice Vernick of Washburn Ave. returned home
from visiting in Grand Haven, Mich., and its surroundings.
Miss Helen Graff has returned from a year's stay in New York
and will reside here permanently..

CHAPTER I, ZIONIST OR-
GANIZATION OF DETROIT, an-
nounces that Rouge Park will be
the setting for the outdoor social
for members and their friends
next Thursday night. The planned
program will include bicycling.
Membership in the organization
is open to young women over 18
and to young men over 21. Con-

and plan to attend the picnic at
Rouge Park. Meeting place: cor-
ner Burt and Plymouth roads,

trip to Bob-Lo on Aug. 22.

its. second annual picnic Sunday
at Cass Benton Park. Members
met at the home of Mr. and Mrs.
H. Storchan and proceeded to the
park for games and refreshments.

son and I. Pentelnick.

Abandon Force, Gbandi
Tells Palestine Jews
NEW YORK (JPS) — Mohan-
das K. Ghandi, Indian leader, ad-
vised the Jews of Palestine to
abandon "naked force" as a wea-
pon against British restriction of
immigration and to adopt the
"matchless weapon of non-vio-
lence," it is reported here from
Bombay.
"One would have thought ad-
versity would teach them (the
Jews) lessons of peace." Ghandi
writes in his newspaper Harijan.

MRS. RAYMOND LEITER

A childhood romance was cul-
minated with the marriage of Ann
Brod, daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Samuel Brod of Webb Ave., to
Raymond Leiter, son of Mr. and
Mrs. Alexander Leiter of Lawrence
Ave., on June 30, at the Bnai
David Synagogue. Rabbi Joshua
Sperka officiated.
As sweethearts, they went
through public, intermediate and
high school together, with the
only interruption occurring - when
Raymond left to spend a year and
a half in the Air Corps.
The bride wore a satin gown
with a square neckline and trim-
med with sloping lace at the neck
and wrists. Her fingertip veil
draped into a crown at the head.
She carried a bouquet of calla lilies
centered with a white orchid.
Mrs. Samuel Linde served as
her sister's matron of h on o r.

sins. She is living in a DP Camp.

Riven Fisher, born in Romania, now
in American Zone in Germany, is anx-

Florence Feldman was maid of
honor. Lilliam Brod and Dolores
Brod were bridesmaids.
Her brother, Gerald Leiter, was
best man. Ushers were Samuel
Sklar, Ralph Brod and Samuel
Linde.
There were 150 guests, including
Mr. and Mrs. Jack Feldstein of
Chicago, Ill., and Mr. and Mrs.
Morris Slutsky of Albany, N. Y.,
at the reception at the Education-
al Center.
The newlyweds spent a two-
week honeymoon in New York.
