Prague Jewish Communify
Taxed to Meet Budget
PRAGUE. (JTA)—The Prague
Jewish Community, for the first
time since liberation, decided to
impose a community tax on its
members in order to meet its
budget which at present is sup-
ported by the Joint Distribution
Committee.
The local JDC announced spe-
cial grants to aid newly-married
Jewish couples, and to support
needy Jewish families with new-
born babies. The newly-weds will
get a one-time grant of $100
while the new parents will re-
ceive slightly less, on condition
that the baby is registered as
Jewish.
Dr. Samuel Stern, 73, Noted
Budapest Leader, Is Dead
BUDAPEST (JTA)—Dr. Sam-
uel Stern, outstanding Hungar-
ian Jewish leader, one-time Court
Counsellor to the ruling house,
died, here over the week-end at
the age of 73. He was president
of the Budapest Jewish Com-
munity for many years.

Tuna-Mato Sandwich Loaf,

.Remove crusts from-
1 medium-sized loaf bread.
Cut 1 slice lengthwise about 1/2,,
inch thick. Hollow out center of
loaf, leaving the side walls and!
bottom about 1/2-inch thick. Cuff'
cubes of bread out of center part.;
Toast.
Combine with
6-oz. can tuna fish or salmon

drained and flaked
3 hard-cooked eggs, chopped,
teaspoon celery salt ' , iv'

teaspoon grated oniolt.
% teaspoon pepper.

mato soup, undiluted.
Mix well. Fill center of loaf with
mixture. Top loaf with lengthwise
slice. Brush top and sides with'
melted butter. Bake in a moder4
ately hot oven (375° F.) for 20
minutes or until lightly browned.'
