M. Sharp Released
From Navy; Honored

With JNF Donation

Marcus Sharp, ETM 2/c, son of
Mr. and Mrs. Abraham Sharp of
Broadstreet Blvd., has just been
honorably discharged from the

U. S. Navy, after
being in active
:service for 21
months. He was
an instructor in
electronics, radio
and radar at
Great Lakes Na-
val Training
School.
Marcus w a s
graduated with
Marcus Sharp high honors
from Central High School at the
age of 16 and received a scholar-
ship to the University of Mich-
igan. He interrupted his studies
at the U. of M. Engineering
School to enlist in the Navy at
the age of 17. He will resume his
studies at the U. of M. this Fall.
He acquired his Jewish educa-
tion at the United Hebrew Schools
and at the Farband Mittelshule
(High School).
In honor of his return from
service, his parents redeemed a
dunam . of land in Palestine
through the JNF.

Rafelson Post to Hold
Dinner-Dance June 26

Completion of plans for a

summer . dinner-dance has been
announced by Charles Perlman,
commander of the Robert J.
Rafelson Post of the Jewish War
Veterans. The affair • will take
place at Lee 'n' Eddie's on Wed-
nesday, June 26, at 7:30 p. m.
There will be a special floor
show, featuring Frances Faye,
noted entertainer, and music by
Artie Fields' orchestra. Ticket

Pfc. Abrams Honored

GALESBURG, Ill.—Announce-
ment that Pfc. Arthur Abrams.
of 1400 Vermont St., Detroit, was
honored on June 4, at a formal
retreat parade and ceremony
held at Mayo General Hospital
in Galesburg, Illinois, has been
made by Colonel Henry L. Krafft,
Mayo's commanding officer.
Pfc. Abrams, a patient, repre-
sen•ed the 231st Solo Coll. Co.,
of which he once was a member.
One of the 41 men who vol-
unteered to don "ClasS A" uni-
forms once again, and to parti-
cipate in the retreat ceremony
as a farewell gesture to the . hos-
pital at Mayo, Pfc. Abrams will
be discharged from here in the
near .future.

52 Chaplains Receive
Yeshiva Honor Scrolls
Fifty-two Jewish chaplains,
who have served or are still in
service with all branches of the
armed forces of the United States
and Canada, were the recipients
of "scrolls of honor" at the in-
augural dinner of Yeshiva Univer-
sity, • June 11, at the Woldorf-
Astoria, according to an an-
nouncement by Dr. Samuel Eel-
kin, president of the University.
