Aid WA Campaign

George Biddle, noted American
artist, who returned recently
from a visit to Germany where
he made drawings of the surviv-
ing victims of Nazi persecution
and leading Nazi war criminals,
declared that "a humanity that
allowed such tortures and suffer-
ing can hang its head in shame.
A world that does not experience
the pangs of guilt, while disposs-
essed persons , are still homeless
and without hope, is either an
ignorant or an evil world." Mr.
Biddle urged wide American

Arab Warns of Warfare
In Middle East in Year

JERUSALEM, (JTA)—A re-
port from Amman, where Emir
Abdullah was crowned first king
of the independent kingdom of
Transjordan, says that Abdul
Rahman Azzam Bey, secretary
general of the Arab League, a
guest at the ceremonies, warned
of a possible repetition in the
Middle East of a war along the
lines of the Franco rebellion in
Spain, with each side relying on
larger powers, for open and con-
cealed assistance.
If war breaks out between the
Jews and Arabs, "no (Arab)
government or king could refuse
to send assistance," Azzam Bey is
quoted as saying.
