Weitzmann Says Repat
Does Not Solve Problem
JERUSALEM (JTA)—Address-
ing a meeting of the Small Zion-
ist Actions Committee, called to
discuss the notes submitted to
the Jewish Agency by the British
and American Governments, Dr.
Chaim Weizmann declared that
the report of the Anglo-American
inquiry committee• offers no solu-
tion of the Palestine problem.-
He - added, however, that if the
recornmendations for immediate
admittance of 100,000 Jews froth
Europe and removal of the land
restrictions were carried out, it
would open the door to renewed
efforts by Jews to develop the
country. At the same time, he
urged that the time and place
of the World Zionist -Congress—
which is scheduled to open here
on Aug. 7—be changed.

Anti-Jewish, Growth
Seen in Argentina

BUENOS AIRES, (JTA)—Anti
Semitism, virtually unknown in
Argentina 20- years ago,• is now
growing daily, Dr. Moises Gold-
man, president of the DAIA, cen-
tral representative body of Ar-
gentine Jewry, told a national
conference of the organization
here.
Dr. Goldman reviewed the
various anti-Semitic incidents
which have occurred in the past
few months, and said that al-
though the DAIA had succeeded
in obtaining satisfaction from the
government in some of the cases,
in others its protests and inter-
ventions were ignored. He cited
the fact that anti-Semitic news-
papers were still permitted to
publish and that a well, known
anti-Semite, Dr. Santiago Peral-
ta, has been named head of the
Immigration Office.
The conference adopted a
resolution urging that relief ac-
tivities in Argentina for Jews
abroad should be coordinated.
Goldman stressed that the DAIA
would continue to work closely
with the World Jewish Congress
and the Jewish Agency for Pal-
estine.

`Freezing' of Jewish,
Funds Protested by
Hebrew TP Friends

NEW YORK, (JTA)—A resole.
tion, pointing 'out that "there are
other pressing needs outside of
the scope of the United Jewish
Appeal which must be met," has
been made public by the execu-
tive committee of the American
Friends of the Hebrew Univer-
sity as part of an appeal for in•
creased support.
The resolution says that "the
policy of subordinating all mi-
nor projects to a major one is
bad in principle, and unsound
as a matter of all-around plan-
ning." It emphasizes that "freez-
ing support of all causes and
projects except one, especially
those causes and projects which
have expanding needs, will not
only inflict irreparable harm on
these projects, but will be a dis-
service to world Jewry."
