Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Karp (Bette Goldstrom) are now at
home at 2680 Rochester. Mr. Karp was discharged from the Navy
on April 29 after 38 months of service, 29 months of them having
been at sea.

Mr, and Mrs. Samuel Brody have returned from a six months' •
stay in Miami Beach.
Miss Lillian Shfrin, who will become the bride of Harry Dick
man on June 2, was complimented with a shower by her aunt,
Mrs. Rudy LoPatin who was hostess to 40 guests at Huyler's on .
May 7.
Miss Marilyn Gold, daughter of the Maxwell Golds of San
Juan Dr., has returned home from a visit with Mr. and Mrs. Ber-
nard Katz of Toronto.
Out-of-town guests at the Bar Mitzvah of Alvin Friedman, son
of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Friedman of 2714 Monterey, included H.
Pakoff and son, Albert, of New Orleans, La. ? father and brother
of Mrs. Friedman, and her sister and brother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs.
M. Moore and daughter, Barbara, of Flint.
Mrs. Harold W. Kline of Fullerton Ave. is visiting with rela-
tives in Santa Monica, Calif.
Mrs. H. A. Iola of Tulsa, Okla., spent the week-end with her
aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin Goldstein of LaSalle Blvd.
Mr. and Mrs. Alex M. Beerbohm have moved to their new
home at 19358 Stoepel Ave.
Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin Kraus of Webb Ave. were honored on
May 12 by the Kraus Family Club on the occasion of their 67th
wedding anniversary, at the Bereznitver Hall, Linwood and Davision.
The honored couple, both age 84, have 10 children, 26 grandchil-
dren and 27 great grandchildren. Cantor Sonenklar of Cong.
Shaarey Zedek led the family group in singing. Dorothy's Catering
Service made all arrangements for the program.
Maj. Harry. Weiler has been discharged after serving for more
than three years with the Army Dental Corps. Maj. and Mrs.
Weber have reopened their home on Pennington Drive and are
now residing there with their sons, Dennis and Fredric.
Mrs. Joseph G. Fenton is in New York City as a delegate to
the ORT national convention.
Miss. Rita Halperin of 3344 Clements gave a personal shower
at Frame's on May 8, to honor Cecelia Wisotsky, bride-elect. A
surprise gadget shower was given for her on May 10 by her sister,
Dolores.
Miss Dolores Kay, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Philip Kay of
Lawrence Ave., entertained 20 guests at the Latin Quarter on Fri-
day, May 10, in honor of her "sweet sixteen birthday."
Miss Edith Heavenrich of Trowbridge Ave. has returned from
•Milwaukee, where she spent the last few weeks visiting with her
brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Heavenrich.
Mr. and Mrs. Edward Quint of Oak Dr. are spending a week
in New York.
Mrs. Harold C. Allen of .Muirland Ave. is visiting with relatives
and friends in California.
Mrs. Julian G. -Wollner of Burlington Rd. has returned from
New York where she visited her daughter, Isabel, who is attend-
. ing Columbia university.
Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Gordon of Parkside Ave. are spending
a few weeks in Hot Springs, Ark.
Richard Hartman, who has been serving in the U. S. Navy for
• the last three years, including service in the Pacific area, has re-
ceived his discharge and is now at home with his parents, Mr. and
Mrs. Joseph Hartman of Chicago Blvd.
Mrs. David G. Lieberman spent a few days with her husband's
sister and brother-in-law, Mr. and. Mrs. Leonard Simons of Park-
side Ave., and his brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Samuel
Lieberman of Birchcrest Ave. en route to her home in Los Angeles
from a visit in the East.
Mrs. Leon G. Winkelman of Fairfield Ave. spent last weekend
at Delfield,. Wis., visiting her twin sons, Fred and Jack who are
attending St. Jorin'S Military academy.
Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Klein • and their daughter, Sylvia, of
Cleveland, spent last weekend as the guests of Mr. Klein's brother,
Aaron Klein of Boston Blvd.
Mr. and Mrs. Alex Baruch of the Belcrest hotel left Thursday
for New York, where they plan to make their home,
Mr. and Mrs. Louis Eston of Webb Ave. have returned from
California, where they were visiting for the last six' weeks.
Complimenting their son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and. Mrs.
Lawrence J. Klein of Louisville, Ky., Mr. and Mrs. Sidney Reibel
of 26339 York Rd., Huntington Woods, will have open house on
Sunday May 19, from 4 to 11 P. M.
Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Cullen of Boston Blvd. have returned from
a visit in Washington, D. C.
Mr. and Mrs. Julius Hartman and their daughter, Caroline, of
Edison Ave. have returned from Chicago, where they spent a few
days with Mrs. Hartman's aunt, MrS. Anne Goodman, on , the oc-
casion of her 75th birthday.
Miss Yolarid Klein of Cleveland spent last weekend as the
guest of her brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Sanford R.
Klein of Briarcliff Ave.
Dr. and Mrs. Nathan Galin of Argyle Crescent have moved to
•. Medina, 0., where they are now residing at their estate, "Thnalor."
•Dr. Galin has been appointed on the staff of medicine at the Com-
munity Hospital of Medina.
Mr. and Mrs. Julius Green of Muirland Ave. returned on
Saturday from a stay in Cuba.
Lt. Herbert Levin, who recently returned from Japan, is spend-
ing a 30-day leave with his parents, Prof. and Mrs. Samuel M.
Levin of Broadstreet Blvd.
Mr. and Mrs. Irving Oser of Indiana Ave. have moved to
Los Angeles, Cal., where they plan to make their home. •
Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Sherman have returned to their home
in Los Angeles, following a month's visit with his parents, Mr. and
Mrs. Morris Sherman, of Calvert Ave.
Mr. and MTS, Nate Rovin of Elmhurst Ave. have returned from
a visit in Washington, D. C.

ero of Louisville, Ky., announce
the engagement of their daugh-
ter, Shirley Joyce, to Herbert V.
Rollins; son of the late Mr. and
Mrs. Charles Rosenthal of De-
troit.
Miss Shapero attended the
University of Illinois and is a
graduate of the University of
Louisville. Mr. Rollins is a grad-
uate of the University of Detroit
and was a Captain in the Army
Administrative Corps. He served
in Africa and Italy.

Katzman to Address
'JNW A Group May 23

Jacob Katzman, national sec-
retary of the English-speaking
divisions of the Jewish National
Workers Alliance, will be hon-
ored at an open meeting and re-
ception by the Detroit English-
speaking branch, on Saturday
evening, May 25, at Zack's,
8939 12th St. Mr. Katzman has
just returned from Europe where
he was attached to the Chaplains'
Corps of the U. S. Army. Re-
freshments will be served. Ad-
mission will be free.

YOUTH EDUCATION
LEAGUE devoted its last meet-
ing, at the home of Mrs. H.
Stark, to a food shower for the
JDC-SOS. A luncheon preceded
the meeting. Mrs. James V.
Browne, president, announces
that many canned foor items

Mrs. Maurice Klein was elected
president' of the Sisterhood of
Temple Beth El at the 45th an-
nual meeting on May 13. She has
served as vice-president of the
Sisterhood for two years and as
chairman of the book review
course.
Mrs. Klein attended the re-
ligious school of Temple Beth El
from kindergarten on and was
a. member of the teaching staff.
Her son is a confirmand and
graduate of the religious school
and her daughter is now a stu-
dent there.
Mrs. Klein's mother was one
of the original members of the
Sisterhood which was organized
in 1901 as the Woman's Auxiliary
Association of Temple Beth El.
Serves Other Groups
In addition, Mrs. Klein serves
other community organizations.
She has been serving as the Jew-
ish co-chairman of the Women's
Division of the Detroit Round
Table of Catholics, Jews a n d
Protestants since its organization
six years ago, and is section pres-
ident of the Needlework Guild.
She is a past president of the
Council of Jewish Women and
the League of Jewish Women's
Organizations.
