Deutsch_Back from Army;
Opens New Camera Shop

After three and a half years
in the Army, Ernie Deutsch re-
turned home to fulfill the dream
of 19 months in the Pacific. He
has opened the College Park Cam-
era Shop on 8723 Puritan.
While in service, he was as-
sistant head of postal affairs for
Navy personnel on Samoa and
New Hebrides Islands and later
in complete charge in the Fiji
Isles, where he was also an offi-
cial photographer for naval af-
fairs.
Everything in camera and mov-
ie supplies are being offered at
his new place and Ernie is put-
ting to good advantage his 10
years experience in photo-fin-
ishing and enlarging by special-
izing in expert work and fast
service. Ernie has established a
rental service of home movies
which include actual-life pictures
of our boys in the front lines,
popular Walt Disney features that
will give junior plenty of audi-
ence competition from mom and
dad, and other entertaining
sports.
Ernie is a graduate of Central
High and attended Milligan Col-
lege in Tennessee. He is 31 and
is married to the former Beverly
Gordon. They live at 3729 W.
Chicago. He is the son of Mr.
and Mrs. Henry A. Deutsch of
18917 Northlawn and a member
of Rabbi Zager Lodge of Bnai
Brith.
Ernie is maintaining a depart-
ment of commercial photography,
including candid shots.

Lippson, W3rner to Open
Drug Store on McNichols

.

A complete cut rate drug store
will be opened soon by Sam and
Son, Inc., in the corner location
of the new business block at West
McNichols and Woodingham. The
firm, conducted by Joseph Lip-
pson and Jack Warner, already
operate a number of stores in the
state.
The new store is 180 feet long,
built in an "L" shape. Register-
ed pharmacists will be on duty
at all times. A 40-foot toiletry
department carrying a complete
line of nationally advertised cos-
metics and a 40-stool lunch and
fountain counter will be features
of the store.

KKK Organizer in N. Y.
Dismissed From Office

ALBANY, N. Y. (JTA)-Hor-
ace A. Demarest, Deputy New
York State Motor Vehicle Com-
missioner, and one of the organ-
izers of the Ku Klux Klan in this
state, was dismissed as the result
of an investigation into the organ-
ization and activities of the Klan
by Attorney General Nathaniel
L. Goldstein.
Proceedings to revoke the char-
ter of the anti-Jewish, anti-Negro,
anti-Catholic, and anti-labor Klan
- were started after a • resurgence
of the organization's activities
were brought to light by Dorothy
Langston, executive secretary of
the New York Committee for Jus-
tice in Freeport, who received a
threatening letter from. the Klan.

2419 Calvert, died May 13. Fu-
neral services were held Wednes-
day at Ira Kaufman Funeral
Home and burial was in Beth El
Memorial Park Cemetery. Sur-
vivors are the wife, Bertha; sons,
Mitchell B. and Alexander, De-
troit; Richard, of Cuba; Joseph,
Cleveland; Martin, of N. Y.;
Jules, of Evansville, Ind.; daugh-
ters, Mrs. Floyd Rindskoff, of
Forest Hills, N. Y., and Mrs. Wil-
liam B. Isenberg, Detroit; broth-
er, David, of N. Y.

were held Thursday at Ira Kauf-
man Funeral Chapel. Rabbi Ros-
enwasser officiated. He leaves
his wife, Edith; three sons, Jack,
Albert and Maurice; seven daugh-
ters, Mrs. Bert Thomas, Mrs. Mey-
er Parnos, Mrs. Edward Podsiad,
Mrs. Edward Meding, Mrs. Vin-
cent DeLaura, Mrs. Murray Saft
and Yvonne Segal; one brother,
Meyer, of Chicago; three sisters,
Mrs. Jose WinSen, Mrs. Ida Ab-
rams and Mrs. Freda Jaffe of
Los Angeles. •

Monroe, Monroe, Mich., died May
9 at the Ford Hospital. Services
were held Friday at Ira Kaufman
Funeral Chapel with Rabbi Un-
gar and Cantor Sonenklar offi-
ciating. She leaves her husband,
Hyman; a son, Arthur, and a
daughter, Dorothy; one sister also
survives. Itterment was in Mach-
pelah Cemetery.

ices were held Tuesday at Ira

Paul, Ann, Benjamin of Los An-
geles, and Mrs. Eugene B. House-
man, and three grandchildren.

16530 LaSalle, died May 12. Serv-
ices were held Tuesday at her
late residence with Rabbi Adler
and Cantor Sonenklar officiating.
She leaves her husband, Louis;
one son, Sidney; one daughter,
Mrs. Alex Kohner; a sister, Mrs.
Sam Weider; a brother, Leon
Friedman; and one granddaugh-
ter. Interment was in Machpelah
Cemetery.

died May 13. Services were held
Tuesday at Ira Kaufman Funeral
Chapel with Rabbi Stollman and
Cantor H. Adler officiating. He
leaves his wife, Anna; two sons,
Albert and Dr. Morris Witus; two
daughters, Mrs. Joseph H. Peven
and Mrs. Edward Harelik; two
brothers, Sam and Morris. In-
terment was in Machpelah Ceme-
tery.

band, the late Morris J. Green-
berg of 8931 12th St., who passed
away April 18, 1946, a donation

Chesed Free Loan Society of
Jerusalem, whose purpose is to
help European refugees establish

Non-Jews Give $10,000
To UJA in Milwaukee

MILWAUKEE (JTA)-A • gift
of $10,000-by the Schlitz Founda-
tion to the United Jewish Appeal
was announced here by Irving G.
Rhodes, chairman of the Milwau-
kee campaign.
This sum is the greatest con-
tribution made thus far by non-
Jews in this city who are organ-
izing a Christian group to assist
Milwaukee Jewry achieve its
1946 quota of $1,000,000. In pre-
senting the check, Erwin C. Uih-
lein, president of the foundation
and the Schlitz Brewing Corn-
pany, said "yours is a worthy
cause and we wish you well in
your endeavors."
