Kelsey Pays Tribute
To Flexner Family
In an impressive tribute to the
late Dr. Simon Flexner, W. K.
Kelsey, leading editorial writer
and columnist of the Detroit
News, stated:
"Morris Flexner (the father of
Simon), the Austrian immigrant
who became a Louisville drug-
gist, did well by his adopted
country. It may be profitably
remembered that the same land
produced this Jew—and Hitler!
How many Jews of the Flexner
type may have been lost to the
world by' Hitler's murders!"
In his article, Mr. Kelsey re-
viewed the contributions to this
country and to humanity maw
by the elder Flexner and }
sons, Abraham, Bernard and Si-
mon.
Dr. Flexner Dies
NEW YORK, (JTA) —Dr. Si-

• Dr. Flexner, brother of the
noted educator Abraham Flexner
and of the late Bernard Flexner,
an attorney who was active in
Zionist and Jewish communal af-
fairs, was born in Louisville, Ky.,
in 1863. He was educated at
American and European universi-
ties and became a professor at

ner was chiefly noted for his con-
tributions to the combatting of
epidemic diseases.
Jewish Flag Saluted by
Russian, Polish Generals
WARSAW (JPS)—Russian and
Polish generals, diplomatic rep-
resentatives and Polish soldiers
saluted the • blue and white flag
displayed on a military occasion
for the first time in Polish his-
tory, during a parade in Stettin
celebrating the first anniversary
of the crossing of the Oder River
by Polish troops. The flag was
carried past the reviewing stand
by members of the Poale Zion,
where it was saluted by Polish
Chief Commander Marshal Aol-
azymierski, his staff, and visiting
Russian generals.
Stettin, near the mouth of the
Oder River, was once Germany's
chief port and naval base on the
Baltic.

Terrorists, Approval of
Jewish Emigration
1
WARSAW (JTA)—Adolf Ber-
man, Jewish deputy in the Polish
National - Council and former
partisan leader, denouncing the
continued murder of Jews and
Polish democrats, lads called for
more vigorous government action
to suppress the anti-Semitic and
anti-government terror.
Premier Eduard Osubka-Mo-
rawski, opening the 10th session
of the Council, called on the
Polish people to take up the
struggle against anti-Semitic
bands which, he said, threaten
the entire Polish nation. He de-.
dared that while Poland needed
the hands and brains of every cit-
izen, the government would not
stand in the way of Jews who de-
sired to emigrate to Palestine and
realize there their national aspira-
tions.
