Rabbi Stollman to was called
to his post when the Mishkan Is-
rael building was dedicated 20
years ago. Prior to that time he
was rabbi in Ozaritch, Minsk, and
was organizer and Rosh Yeshivah
of Mozir-Uravitch Yeshivah. He
distinguished himself as a Tal-
mudic student in Radin, Slobodka
and Nowogrodek, and has been
acclaimed as scholar, orator and
community leader. •
Recently he was elected pres-
ident of the Central Region of
National Mizrachi. He is former
president and now honorary pres-
ident of Yeshivah Beth yehudah,
founder and dean of Merkaz and
Council of Orthodox . Rabbis and
has taken an active part in local
and national orthodox Jewish af-
fairs. He is the author of two vol-
umes of Mincha Itzchock and is
completing a third volume which
will be ready in time for the
testimonial dinner.
Zion Mizrachi Sisters
Urge Members to Aid
SOS Campaign Here
Mrs. Joseph H. Kunin, presi-
dent of the Sisters *of Zion
Mizrachi of Detroit, appeals to
members "an!" friends to aid in
the nation-wide SOS campaign by
contributing canned food and
clothing.
Mizrachi SOS depot is located
at the residence of Mrs. H. Z.
Kraft, 3290 Lawrence.
At the last meeting of the or-
ganization, Ira Sonnenblick, JDC
regional director, stressed the
need of European Jewry.
Mizrachi members are urged to
vote in the forthcoming election.

An anniversary program has
been arranged with David J.
Cohen as toastmaster. Cantor
Hyman J. Adler of Bnai David
will present a musical program
and Rabbi M. J. Wohlgelernter
will report on Yeshivah activi-
ties, and plans ,for the future:
Feature of the evening will be
a play by the students of the
Beth Jacob School for Girls.

Harry Cohen, president of Con-
gregation Shalarey Zedek, reports
that Rabbi Morris Adler's illness
is not serious and that he is
making rapid progress in regain-
ing his health.
Rabbi Adler was removed from
a plane at -El Paso, Tex., Thurs-
day, May 2, when he was sud-
denly taken ill.
He was admitted to .a hospital
in El Paso and is expected back
home after a rest the end of next
week.
He was on the way to Los
Angeles where he was to be the
principal speaker at the conven-
tion of the United Synagogue of
America.

for United Aged
Home in Jerusalem
Rabbi Mordechai Kahana, dean
of Yeshivah College Chassam Sof-
er in Palestine, is visiting Detroit
in the interests
of the United
Aged Home in
Jerusalem,
where 600 men'
and women are
cared for. Many
refugees and par-
ents of service-
men are housed
in the home.
The institution
has four sybo- Rabbi Kahana
gogues and a hospital. The .home
is being enlarged to meet increas-
ing needs.
The institution is endorsed by
Detroit rabbis.

Rabbi Kahana will stay in De-
troit six weeks.

The Chachmey Lublin Ladies'
Auxiliary will have its fourth
annual donor luncheon May 28 at
the Bnai Moshe. A journal will
be published and proceeds will
be used for the Yeshivah's cafe-
teria. Mrs. I. Levine, chairman

her co-chairmen, Mesdames Ru-

establishment of children's homes
in Palestine for the care of native
and refugee children.
The Mizrachi Women's Organi-
zation of America, representing
35,000 American Jewish women,
is affiliated with 135 chapters in
the United States.

The annual meeting of the De-
troit Women's Division of the
American Jewish Congress will
be held on Wednesday. at Cong.
Shaarey Zedek. The day's ses-
sions will commence at 11 a. m.
with annual reports, followed by
a dessert luncheon from 12:30 to
1:30 p. m. The general meeting
will open at 1:30 p. m. and elec-
tion of officers will take place.
A mural depicting American
Jewish Congress activities will be
presented by Mrs. Marcus Fordon,
poster committee chairman. This
mural will be sent for exhibition
to the national convention of the
Women's Division in New York.

Shaarey Zedek schools, in co-
operation with the Men's Club-,
will present an educational eve-
ning at 8:30 p. m., Wednesday,
May 15, in the Social Hall. Chair-
men of the affair will be Jacob
B. Rogvoy and Charles Rosen-
blatt, educational co-directors at
Shaarey Zedek.
The program will include a
demonstration by' a Hebrew class
in session under Charlotte Kel-
man. There also will be a quiz
program by the pupils, Palestin-
ian songs and dances and several
skits.. Rabbi Gershon Rosenstock
and Morris M. Jacobs, chairman
of the educational committee, will
discuss "The Challenge of Jewish
Education."
Awards will be given by the
Men's Club for the best essays
written by pupils in the Shaarey
Zedek essay contest. Maurice Se-
ligman, retiring president of the
Men's Club, will present the Na-
tional Federation of Jewish Men's
Clubs medal.
