Annual Meeting, Election, May 20 Sabbath Services
At Temple Israel

STUDENTS CONDUCTING SERVICES AT
YESHIVATH BETH YEHUDAH

Rabbi M. J. Wohlgelernter,
president of . Yeshivath Beth Ye-
hudah, issued an invitation to the
community' to participate in the
annual. meeting of the school on
Monday evening, May 20, when
members of the board will be
elected for 1946 : 1947; including
18 new directors and 36 from
among those who served last
year.
One hundred and five active
workers have to date been en-
listed to securer community sup-
port . for the local Yeshivah,
through members and contrib-
utors, to help cover its $100,000
budget. The formal opening of
the membership drive, will be
announced May 20. Each of the
workers already enlisted is hold-
ing a sponsors' kit for the enroll-
ment of 10 new donors. The
workers are:

Mrs. Sperka to Address
N.W. Sisterhood Dinner

Mrs. Joshua Sperka will be
guest speaker at the second an-
nual Mother-Daughter dinner of
the Sisterhood of Northwest He-
brew Congregation and Center at
6:30 p. m. Wednesday, - at the
Jewish Center, • Mrs. H. Gold-
smith, Sisterhood president, has
announced.
Mrs. Doris Markle, vocalist,
will be • accompanied by Mrs.
Ethel Mendelssohn. Others on the
program will be the Gelb Sisters,
tap-dancers, and Madeline Bishop,
in recitations. There will be a
play, "For Mother on Mother's
Day" by Mrs. Ira G. Kaufman.
Reservations are being taken
by Mrs. S. Bishop, UN. 3-5042,
and Mrs. A. Sachs, UN.. 1-7238.
Mrs. Goldsmith is area chair-
man in behalf of the Sisterhood's
teams for the Allied Jewish
Campaign.

ing which is nearing completion.
The Men's Club and the Beth
Aaron Sisterhood invite all to at-
tend services every Friday night
and Saturday morning and on
holidays.
Carl Krugg presided over the
meeting, at which reports of com-
mittees were presented.
The Sisterhood heard from Mrs.
Bea Docks, Mrs. Rae Rubin, vice-
president, Mrs. Miriam Bensman,
president, and Mrs. Sophie Gold-
berg in regard to the family din-
ner, to be held May 12 at 2 p.m.,
at Moss hall. Everyone is invited.
The formal opening of Congre-
gation Beth Aaron will be held
June 16.

The Sisterhood of Temple Israel
will conduct the Sabbath Eve ser-
vice on Friday night, May 3, at
8:30, in the Lecture Hall of the
Detroit. Institute of Arts.
Mrs. Samuel B. Dante, presi-
dent of the Sisterhood, will
preach the sermon on the sub-
ject, "Jewish Ceremonials in the
Home." A Sisterhood Choir, con-
ducted by Cantor Robert S. Tul-
man, will sing Sabbath melodies
and illustrate in song Mrs. Dan-
to's sermon on ceremonials.
Mrs. Jacob A. Citrin will read
from the Scroll of the Torah.
The Sabbath worship will be
led by Mesdames Samuel Blach-
er, Maxwell H. Emmer, Dan
Krouse, Morton L. Snyder, Leqn
B. Cowen, and Jerome Kanter.
Members of the Sisterhood will
take over the ushering function
under the chairmanship of Mes-
dames Nathan Kolb and Arthur
J. Hass. The usherettes will be

Services will be followed by a
