Will you do this little
thing for your father?
scv %o
years ago you were lucky enough to have
a father (or a grandfather) fortunate enough
to leave Europe with its hates and fears, and come
to America where a Jew never has to hide in the
cellar after eight o'clock at night.

Because your father came here, you are alive.
And prospering.
If he hadn't, you'd probably be dead. And so
would your children. (Six million Jews who
stayed in Europe were killed.)
I Those unhappy Jews still alive over there are
hungry, cold, miserable and lonely. Some are
dying of starvation as you read this.
The plight of the remaining Jews of Europe is
far, far worse than that of other war victims. Most
of them are not receiving any aid from intergov-
ernmental sources. They do not ask for preferen-
tial treatment. They hope merely to be raised to
the level of survival. They cry out to us, not for
special favors, but for life itself.
Your father would like it, don't you think, if you
did something to save these 1,400,000 ‘Jewish
men, women and children who have survived the
Hitler terror?
Your father, we're sure, would feel that by help-
ing them you would somehow be showing your
gratitude for the blessings of liberty and freedom
you found in America.
The simplest way to help is to give money to
the United Jewish Appeal. They in turn will take
your money and buy clothes, food, shelter, drugs,
bandages. They will use about half your money to
help rescue the Jewish orphans in all the misera-
ble parts of the world and help them settle in a
land of hope. Perhaps, even Palestine.
WORK for the United Jewish Appeal. Work as
you've never worked before. Give us your time—
your effort—your services. Write or phone us and
say, "I want to do my part to save 1,400,000 lives!"
SACRIFICE! Can you honestly enjoy all the good
things of life amid so much suffering? Do you feel
quite right being so comfortable when over a mil-
lion of your brothers starve ... and live in fear?
GIVE when you are called on. Unprecedented
generosity is needed for these unprecedented
needs. Your 1946 gift will not be used as a stand-
ard in any future campaign.
No money you ever spent could do a finer
thing than this.
