Membership in Orga'nization Only Way Jews Can Register
Their Will Regarding Palestine, Van Paassen
Tells 1,500 at Public Meeting

The Zionist Organization of
Detroit opened its drive for new
members, as part of. the nation-
wide campaign for the enroll-
ment of a half million new affil-
iates with the Zionist Organiza-
tion of America, at the public
meeting held March 14 at the
Shaarey Zedek.
Dr. Philip E. Lachman, a re-
turned veteran, heads the mem-

the large gathering on March 14,
when Pierre Van Paassen was
guest, speaker, Dr. Lachman
stated that the objective of his

must be settled in Palestine.
Enrollment of an overwhelm-

ment to disprove the charges of
those who oppose a Jewish Com-
monwealth was urged by Rabbi
Leon Fram, ZOD president.
In his address, Mr. Van Paas-
sen endorsed • the view that the
Jews of America must demon-
strate that the Jewish people and
the Zionists are inseparable. He
expressed his attitude as a Chris-
tian that all American Jews must
register demands that the White
Paper be rescinded, that un-
limited immigration be allow-
ed in Palestine and that a Jew-
ish Commonwealth be establish-
ed.
"Membership in the Zionist
Organization," he. said, "is the
only way in which you can reg-
ister your will so that it is under-
stood by the British government
