JERUSALEM (Palcor)—A Jew-
ish constable and a British worn-
an were wounded in a raid by
armed Jews against a British mu-
nition depot at Sarafand, near
Rishon LeZion last week, during
which an ammunition dump was
blown up and a small quantity of
ammunition was stolen, the gov-
ernment announced in a state-
ment to the press this morning.
A curfew, the second in less than
a week, was imposed on the Ri-
shon LeZion and nearby Roho-
voth areas.
According to the statement, 14
armed • Jews, dressed as airborne
troops, entered the camp in an
army lorry and made directly for
a tented encampment containing
an ammunition dump. They over-
came the guard and began load-
ing the lorry, but were spotted
by other troops, and after a brief
exchange of fire, they speeded off
with only a small quantity of
ammunition, the government
says.
Later, a. Jewish taxi, occupied
by a woman and three men, one
of them covered with blood, was
stopped at the police check post
at Rohovoth. All were arrested.

In a letter to the principal
broadcasting networks and com-
mentators, as well as to news edi-
tors, the Non-Sectarian Anti-Nazi
League characterized use of such
phrases as "Jewish terrorists" in
connection with news reporting
of current disturbances in Pales-
tine as inaccurate and inflamma-
tory language, which does not
correctly reflect the facts of
events in the Near East, and
which tends to stir up unneces-
sary tension and antipathy be-
tween racial and religious groups
in the United States.
The League's letter, signed by
Prof. James H. Sheldon, adminis-
trative chairman of the Non-Sec-
tarian Anti-Nazi League, declared
that outbreaks in Palestine are at
least as much due to violent dis-
turbances instigated by. Arabs, or
by British agencies, as to any
other cause, and that it is unfair
to describe self-defensive activi-
ties as "terroristic," when most of
the outbreaks have originated in
organized demonstrations of Ara-
bic or other non-Jewish groups.
The Non-Sectarian Anti-Nazi
League will appreciate being no-
tified of specific violations of the
practice suggested above, when-
ever readers of The Jewish News
hear such instances over their ra-
dio. Notifications should be sent
to the Non-Sectarian Anti-Nazi
League, 165 W. 46th St., New
York 19.. N. Y., or forwarded in
care of The Jewish News.
