AMERICA •
Dr. Morton A. Seidenfeld, formerly chief-
clinical pathologist in the Office of the Surgeon
General, U. S. Army, has been appointed di-
rector of psychological services of the National
Foundation for Infantile Paralysis.
The U. S. Government has decided that the
Ruhr basin, the arsenal of Europe, shall re-
main part of Germany, Homer Bigart, New
York Herald correspondent, reports from
Frankfurt.
The 49,900 ton former Nazi liner Europa, the
biggest war prize in maritime history, shortly -
will be turned over by the United States Navy
to the Allied shipping pool and may eventually
be returned to Gerniany.
• The Veterans League of America has de-
manded the ouster of Representative John E.
Rankin (D., Miss.) from chairmanship of the
House Veterans Committee, on grounds that
his hate attacks against racial minorities make
him unfit to head a group whose legislation
will affect members of all races and religions.
Judge Samuel S. Leibowitz, of Kings County
Court, N. Y., instructed the February Grand
Jury not to investigate charges of anti-Semitic
discrimniation by three major utility com-
panies in New York City, because the Ives-
' , Quinn anti-discrimination law lacks "teeth"
for enforcement, and proof of violation is al-
most impossible.
PALESTINE
The British Government has notified the
Jewish Agency officially that German prison-
ers of war will be brought to Palestine to work
on military installations as originally pro- .
jected by British military authorities.
(A Jewish news agency in the United States
reported earlier that --some German PWs had
already arrived in Palestine.)
The HebreW press, without exception, urged
the Government to revoke its decision• to bring
German prisoners of war to Palestine to work
on military installations, and branded the move
an "unparalleled provocation against Jewish
Palestine."
' Jewish Palestine is planning a G. I. Bill of
Rights in the form of • a special loan fund and
other projects to cost $40,000,000 for resettling
returned Jewish servicemen and women and
establishing them in various trades and
industries.
