JEWISH -WOMEN'S SERVICE
CLUB members will be given a
luncheon March - 9 by Mrs.
Harriet Miller and Mrs. Sally
Lux at the latter's home. Pro-
ceeds will be used for charities
sponsored by the club. On March
17 Mrs. Gussie Rochman, trea-
surer, will give a Purim dinner
her home. A Mother-Daughter
banquet is planned for May 14
at the Wilshire.

JEWISH WOMEN'S EUROPEAN
WELFARE ORG. is proceeding
with, plans for the 13th annual
donor luncheon to be held April
30 at the Book Cadillac Hotel.
Proceeds of the luncheon will be
used to support European or-

meeting to the Emergency SOS-
JDC food and medicines drive.

LIEF CLUB was organized at the
home of Mr. and Mrs. Leo J.
Cohen, 2691 Webb, to aid the re-
maining Jews of Ostrow, Mazo-
wiecki. Ostrower landsleute are

LT. ELI LEVIN LADIES AUX-
ILIARY 230, JWV, has sent to
the Eloise hospital a large table
radio, 150 picture puzzles, books,
pencils, candy, gum, playing
cards and cigarets. There are
about 100 veterans at the hospi-
tal at the present time.

BNAI MOSHE SISTERHOOD,
at its annual meeting Mpnday
afternoon at the synagogue, will
hear the annual report of the
president, Mrs. I. E. Goodman.
Mrs. James Sobel will give the
prayer. A dessert' luncheon will
precede the meeting at 12:30. The
Sisterhood's recent food shower
netted a ton of food for the JDC
overseas relief program.

CIETY will have its victory din-
ner dance Sunday at 6 p. m., at
the Bnai Moshe. Rabbi E. Levi
will present the Jewish Flag
which was donated by Mr. and
Mrs. Julius Ring in honor of
their son and nephews who re-
turned from the armed forces.

YOUNG WOMEN'S MIZ-
RACHI's board met at the home
of Mrs. Jack Dunn and made
plans for a fashion show lunch-
eonette to be held March 27 at
Webster Hall. Mrs. Sol Strager
and Mrs. Leo Genser are chair-
men of the affair, proceeds of
which will go to the Children's
Village under construction in
Ranana, Palestine. Mrs. Moses
Wiser is chairman of the Child
Rescue Fund.

NEUGARTEN MEDICAL AID
is sending large quantities of
sulfa, quinine and aspirin to
Germany and another large
package of vitamins to France.
The need for these items was
brought to the attention of the
organization by members who
had letters from men in service
in Europe who witnessed the
desperate need for drugs. Con-
tacts were made with Army
chaplains.

SABBATH OBSERVANCE, 12th

CLUB had a Gewerkshaften eve-
ning during which Palestine
movies were shown. A generous
gift was made to the Palestine
fund. The club's victory luncheon
will be held at the Book Cadillac

Maj. A. S. Rogoff was separat-
ed from active service in the
medical corps of the U. S. Army
on Feb. 23.
Last Monday, Maj. Rogoff be-
gan a post-graduate course in in-
ternal medicine

in U. S. Army

Joseph Lovy, of 10205 Dexter,
arrived in this country from
Hungary in 1939 and thereby e§-
caped the fate'. which was in
store for nearly his entire fam-
ily, numbering approximately
200.
A short time ago, however, Mr.
Lovy, a furrier, received the news_
that his two brothers had sur-.
vived.
His brothers accidentally met
just as they were about to be
released from the concentration
camp at Monthausen.
Mr. Lovy was drafted in the
U. S. Army in September, 1942,
and served in the Ordnance De-

The "three brothers" of the
Horenstein family, Lou, Sam and
Max, are completing arrange-
ments for opening a delicatessen
and restaurant at 12647 Dexter
(at Leslie), the event to take
place about March 20.
Lou and Sam already have
been discharged from the army,
but Max still is in service—a
sergeant with the weather de-
partment of the air corps, sta-
tioned at Chanute Field, Ill.
Lou started as a private four
years ago, and served with the
military police for three years in
the New Hebrides and Hawaii.
He came back a second lieuten-
ant. He formerly attended the
pre-med course at the U. of M.,
and was on the Center and
NOrthern H. S. basketball teams.
Sam, a private first class,
served two years, seven months
overseas, as first machine gunner
with the 28th division in France,
and sports one battle star. He 11
formerly played on the Northern
H. S. basketball team.
