Lt. Ross First Detroit Chalutz
In 8 Years to Go to Palestine

A cultural program will be
presented by Hashomer Hatzair
group of Detroit. All friends
and well-wishers of Elchanan
Ross are invited to participate.
Mr. Ross has long been a mem-
ber of Hashomer Hatzair and has
served/ as its executive director
and Organizer. He is a member
of the Fourth American Kibbtitz
(Collective Group) planning to
settle in Palestine. During the
war he served as a transport
pilot ferrying paratroops and
vital supplies in the ETO.
Elchanan is one of the first
veterans to be accepted by the
Hebrew University of Jerusalem
to study under the GI Bill of
Rights. This program is spon-
sored by Hechalutz of America,
which plans to have over a 100
veterans attending schools in

the Jewish National Fund Coun-
cil of Detroit, in issuing an in-
vitation to all boxholders of the
JFN to attend this rally, points
out that Dr. Sacks is an outstand-
ing speaker. He advises all to
come • early, as all previous
similar rallies have drawn over-
flow attendances.

. That Palestine can definitely be endowed with the capacity to
absorb an additional Jewish population of two to three million
has been ascertained by America's foremost technical authorities
on irrigation and hydro-electric development. This development
is indicated on the map above, which has been drawn by James B.
Hays, former TVA Engineer, who left for Palestine last week to-
gether with Emanuel Neumann, head of the Commission on Pal-
estine Surveys, the group which designed the plan and sponsored
the study which was begun three years ago.

Lt. Elchanan Ross, who is well
known in local Zionist and Jew-
ish circles, will become the first
Chalutz (Pioneer) to go to Pal-
estine from Detroit in eight
years.

the Yishuv, a program and open
house in his honor will be held
Saturday, March 16, at 8:30 p.m.,

cum, Holland, was educated in
Rotterdam and came to Canada

came a Minister of the Unitarian
Church.
He had crossed and re-crossed
Germany several times prior to
the last war, served in the First
World War and has gained world
fame as a Zionist and friend of
all liberal causes.

NEW YORK -- Foreseeing a
"long and bitter struggle" for the
future of Palestine, Dr. Abraham
Granovsky, noted authority on
the Palestine land problem and
head of the World Jewish Nation-
al Fund, has issued a statement
urging American public opinion
to support the fight of Palestine
Jewry and of the Zionist move-
ment for the abolition of the
Palestine government's land laws
which bar 95% of the mandated
territory to Jewish land purchase

Dr. Granovsky, who left for
Jerusalem- to appear as a witness
before the Anglo-American Com-
mittee of Inquiry, has spent four
months in the United States in
the interest of the Fund, sponsor-
ed by the Zidnist movement for
the acquisition and reclamation
of the soil of Palestine as nation-
al property. His plan for the
acquisition by the Fund of an-
other area of 500,000 dunams, in-
volving an expenditure of $44,-
000,000, was adopted by the Na-
tional Conference of the Jewish
National Fund held recently in
Pittsburgh, Pa.
