.Allied Jewish Campaign Workers
Mobilized for All-Out Effort in
$100,000,600 National Appeal

Detroit Jewry, responding to the call for prompt and
generous participation in the national $100,000,000 drive of
the 'United Jewish Appeal for Refugees, Overseas Needs
and Palestine, is - now completing organization of its Allied
Jewish Campaign machinery.

Detroit Service Group of the Jewish Welfare Federation, hav-
ing formed auxiliary participating groups to aid in the raising of
Detroit's goal of $2,000,000, is prepared to proceed in behalf of
the record breaking' campaign.

Emphasis was placed this week on the fact that the entire
1946 Allied Jewish Campaign goal of $2,000,000 will go for over-
seas relief, Palestine's reconstruction and • the settlement of
refugees in this country, through the three UJA agencies—Joint
Distribution Committee, United Palestine Appeal and National
Refugee Service. Local causes this year are provided for with
funds raised late in 1945 through the War Chest, which has since
been dissolved.

Organization of the Organizations Division of the Detroit
Service Group last Sunday and of the Youth Division, whose
activities are covered in news stories in this issue of The Jewish
News; the earlier formation of the. Women's . Division, and the
organization of the Trades and Professional Divisions, also reported
earlier, point to the formation of a strong community setup to
assure Detroit Jewry's full participation in the great humanitarian
drive.

.

A complete evaluation of the overseas and Palestinian needs,
to be provided for in our $2,000,000 drive, will be given at the
annual meeting of the Jewish Welfare Federation of Detroit on
Monday evening, at Hotel Statler.

Detroit Jewry's responsibility at this hour •• is to go forth
valiantly with courage and. determination so that our obligations
to the surviving Jews in Europe should be fulfilled promptly
