closing event of the Detroit
Palestine His t a d r u t (Gewerk-
shaften) campaign, Sunday eve-
ning, March 17, at Cass High
•school auditorium.
Richard Tucker, eminent tenor
of the Metropolitan Opera Co. of
New York, will be the guest
artist.
This event also will mark the
celebration of the 25th anniver-
sary of the Histadrut, the Jewish
Federation of Labor of Palestine.
In transmitting a check for
$62,500, half of the 1946 quota of
$125,000 to the National Commit-
tee for Labor Palestine, Norris
Lieberman, chairman of the ex-
ecutive committee, stated: "Re-
sults achieved thus far set a new
high for our Histadrut Campaign.
With close to $90,000 already
pledged, workers and contribu-
tors have shown their devotion to
the aims of the Histadrut. With
the close of our campaign a little
more than a week away, we are
certain that our workers will suc-

NEW YORK—A campaign goal
of $5,000,000 for 1946 has been
set by Vaad Hatzala, major Jew-
ish agency exclusively concerned
With the religious aspe,cts of res-
cue and relief of European Jewry,
according to announcement yes-
terday by Rabbi Israel Rosen-
berg, president of the Union of
Orthodox Rabbis of the U. S.
and Canada, and praesidium
member of the Vaad.
. This sum is double the 1945
expenditures and is needed to
meet increased opportunities for
rehabilitation work throughout
the world, Rabbi Rosenberg said.
Principal items in the proposed
1946 budget are:
Rescue and relief, $1,900,000;
religious rehabilitation, $1,100,-
000; religious schools (yeshi-
vath'), and other educational in-
stitutions, including relief expen-
ditures for rabbis and students,
$850,000; transportation and relo-
cation, $400,000; clothing, medi-
cine, religious articles—and other
supplies, $150,000.

Rabbi Zager Lodge
Officers Elected

The Bnai Brith Lodge, formed
to honor the memory of the late
Rabbi Mandel M. Zager, will in-
stall officers at a public installa-
tion to be performed in April by
the Pisgah Lodge Degree Team.
The officers are: --Max Bard,
chaplain; Jacob F. Schulman,
president; Philip Dubrinsky, Ben
Fellows and Barney Ross, vice-
presidents; Sidney Ersher, finan-
cial secretary; Nathan Zager,
treasurer; Samuel Traison, corre-
sponding secretary; - Stanford
Glasser, recording secretary;
Hammond -Perlman, sergeant-at-
arms; Ben Fishman, guardian;
,Jack J. Hartstein, Josesph Ten-
nenberg, Maurice Merker and Joe
Math, trustees.
More than 200 members at-
tended the meeting last Tuesday
evening.
The charter will be presented*
to the lodge by Henry Monsky,
national president, at a public
meeting on March 13.

Friends of the Histadrut are
urged to tune in on Station
W.J.L.B. Sunday at 12:45 when a
special Histadrut program will be
presented in which Helen Waren,
famous Jewish American actress
who toured Europe will be fea-
tured.

'and headed the Red Cross Drive
there. He is recognized as a

himself what the Histadrut is do-
ing there in building a Jewish
