Trades, Professions Gird for Allied Jewish Drive

Plans for enlistment of several hundred Jew-
ish grocers in Wayne County as members of the
Retail Markets Section of the Detroit Service
Group have been .made by Harry Brenner, Nor-
man Cutler and David Weiss, organizing chairmen
for the Section. Following an early meeting of an
enlarged steering committee at the home of Mr.
Brenner, a county-wide general meeting of grocery
and delicatessen store proprietors will be organ-
ized, with campaigning and communal service
as twin themes.
Edward Finsilver and Nathan Metz, organizing
chairmen of the Fish Section, are aiming at com-
plete inclusion of proprietors and employes in
the processing, wholesale, and retail branches.
Meat Industry Organizes
A group of meat industry leaders, with Ben
Klein and Israel Schlaifer as organizing chairmen,
met February 7 at the home of Mr. Klein and
set for themselves a goal of complete organization
of Jews in the packing, wholesale, and retail units
of the industry. Plans include intensive attention
to the enlistment of campaign workers, and par-
ticipation in year-round community planning
from branches of the industry which have been
under-organized in the past. Members of the
organizing committee, in addition to Mr. Klein
and Mr. Schlaifer, are: Adolph Beck, Bernard
Fineman, George Fineman, Louis Gunsberg,
Julius Hersh, Joseph Klein. Morris Rosenberg,
Albert Rothenberg, Harry Rothenberg, Nathan
Rubin and Max Gordon.

with the objective of calling a meeting of pros-
