Refugees' Children
Enroll in Yeshivah
Rabbi Max J. Wohlgelernter,
president of Yeshivath Beth Ye-
hudah, announced this week that
among the 68 new registrants for
classes this semester are Joseph
and Bettina Languas, children of
Mr. and Mrs. Itzhak Languas,
refugees who were released from
Camp Oswego.
The Languas family had insist-
ed upon coming to Detroit in
order to be able to enroll their
children in the Yeshivah. Joseph
attends the intermediate depart-
ment and Bettina is in the fourth
grade of the Day School.
Arrangements are being com-
pleted for the annual Torah
Month dinner of Yeshivath Beth
Yehudah to be held on March 3.

Young Israel Teams

A program of inter-city compe-
tition of Young Israel clubs in
athletic and cultural activities
will be initiated Sunday when
the Detroit Young Israel Inter-
mediates, ages 16 to 19, and the
Kingsmen, 13 to 15, will go to
Cleveland for basketball games
with Young Israel clubs there.
The program was decided upon
at the Feb. 3 conference of dele-
gates to the midwestern regional
council in Cleveland.
Details of the first postwar
Midwestern Young Israel con-
vention, to be held in St. Louis
in November, were discussed at
the conference. Rabbi Israel E.
Turner and Samuel W. Platt rep-
resented Detroit.
Members of the Intermediates

To The Survivors of Those Buried in The
Beth Olam Cemetery
(Also Known as Smith Street Cemetery)
This cemetery has been neglected for years and some of the
stones are illegible.
In respect to the memory of these deceased, it is important
that this cemetery should be cleaned up and set in proper shape.
The former directors of the cemetery having passed away, a
group of public spirited Detroiters has organized

and this fund must come from the surviving families of those
buried there and from all who recognize this as a responsibility.
This appeal is directed to the survivors to meet
with the newly organized committee, members
of which will meet every Sunday morning from
1 to 12, at the Shaarey Zedek, to bring their
voluntary contributions at that time and to co-
operate in redeeming the Beth Olam Cemetery in
respect to the memory of the deceased.
