Mr. and Mrs. David Barbas and son, Jay, have returned from a
few weeks' vacation in New Orleans, La.

Mr. and Mrs. Leonard N. Simons of Parkside Ave. are expected
home this Sunday from a few weeks' vacation in Miami Beach, Fla.
Mr. and Mrs. Philip Markowitz (Frances Cohen) of Calvert
Ave. left on Thursday for New York City where they plan to make
their home. Mr. Markowitz recently received his discharge as Staff
Sergeant in the U. S. Army after four years' service, including 15
months in the South Pacific area.
Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Jacob of Rochester Ave. have returned
from a few weeks' stay in Miami Beach.
Mr. and Mrs. Max Krell, who are temporarily residing at the
home of the Max Fishers on Parkside Ave., have as their guests
their son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Nannes of
New York City.
Mr. and Mrs. Larry Chanin of Gladstone Ave. left last Sunday
by motor for a few weeks' visit in Florida.
Mr. and Mrs. Abe Rosenberg of Leslie Ave. have returned from
a few weeks' stay in Hot Springs, Ark.
Sgt. Irving L. Kramer has received his discharge after two and
a half years' service, and with Mrs. Kramer and their small daugh-
ter, Susan, are making their home for the present with her parents,
Mr. and Mrs. Rubin Simon of Glynn Ct.
Mr. and Mrs.. Samuel Levy left on Thursday for Miami Beach,
Fla., where they will remain for the remainder of the winter.
Lester Landes, who served as a private first class in the army
three and a half years, 18 months overseas, and was discharged
recently, has returned, with Mrs. Landes, their daughter, Pamela,
and sister, Miss Lenora Yavitz, to their home on Clements Ave.

Next Wednesday, at a dinner
party celebrating their silver
wedding anniversary, Mr. and
Mrs. Hyman Grossman of 3351
Collingwood will announce the
engagement of their daughter,
Florence, to Milton Silverman,
son of Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Sil-
Verman of 12079 N. Martindale.
A reception will be held at the
home of Mr. and Mrs. Silverman
on Sunday, Feb. 24, in honor of
both occasions. The couple will
be married in June after Miss
Grossman's graduation f r o rn
Wayne University, where she is
a member of Iota Alpha Pi Sor-
ority.

Nathan Schreiber, Detroit mer-
chant, now 61, has left to join his
wife and sister, Mrs. George Feld-
man, at the Wilshire hotel in Mia-
mi Beach. Mr. and Mrs. Schreib-
er will celebrate their birthdays,
as well as their 40th wedding am-
niversary, on Feb. 20.
Mrs. Schreiber is the former
Anna Brosky, daughter of the
late Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Brosky
of Cleveland. Mr. Schreiber has
been president of the Colonial
Department Store for the last 27
years. They are the parents of
five daughters, one on and six
grandchildren.
Mr. Schreiber has been a mem-
ber of Congregation Bnai David
for 40 years and was treasurer for
17 years. He holds memberships
in many fraternities, lodges,
charitable organizations, Scottish
Rite of Free Masonry and Mos-
lem Temple Shrine.
Mr. and Mrs. Schreiber, his
brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and
Mrs. Alex Schreiber, and their
sister, Mrs. George Feldman,
have erected recreation rooms in
the Home of the Aged, in mem-
ory of the late Mr. and Mrs. Max
Schreiber, their brother, Saul
Schreiber, and George Feldman.

Luncheon on Tuesday

Miss Dorothy Frieman, daugh-
ter of Harry Frieman, recently
became the bride of David Leo
Magner, son of Max Magner.
Miss Frieman's gown was made
from a nylon parachute which
Mr. Magner sent to her from New
Guinea, where for two years he
was attached to the 312th Bomb
Group. He was awarded six
battle stars and a Presidential
Unit Citation during his four
years in the Army.
Miss Frieman was attended by'
her sister, Mildred, maid of hon-
or, and by Ruth Katz, Marion
Goss and Sophie Dawes.
Sgt. Sam Magner was his
brother's best man. Usher s
