luncheons for local charities. The

Fruiman and Mrs. Pearl Abrams
at the latter's home. The second
will be given by Mrs. Sophie
Ellenbogen at Mrs. Edith Cohen
at the former's home on Jan. 26.

ans held a combined social meet-
ing with the Lt. Jack Winokur
Post, Jan. 16. The auxiliary is
planning several spring activi-
ties. and a U.S.O. party on Feb.
20. Plans for a membership tea
are being formulated. The next
meeting of the auxiliary will be
held Feb. 6, at J.W.V. Headquar-
ters, 8212 Twelfth. Wives, daugh-
ters, sisters of servicemen are in-
vited.

Palestinian Delegate
From Women's Council

Arrangements are being made
by the Pioneer Women's Organ-
ization to welcome Sarah Kukso,
Palestinian delegate of the Work-
ing Women's Council, on Monday,
Feb. 4.
An open meeting with Mrs.
Kukso will take place at the Rose
Sittig Cohen Bldg., Lawton at
Waverley.
A luncheon scheduled for
Wednesday afternoon, Feb. 6,. at
the Detroit Leland Hotel. Mem-
bers and friends of PWO are

Several seminars are scheduled
with Mrs. Kukso.
For the past 18 years Sarah
Kukso lived at Kfar Yehoshua,
in the Emek. She stems from an
old Zionist family of Minsk, Rus-
sia. Her %other is Eliazer Kap-
lan, economist and treasurer of
the Jewish Agency.
She will visit Detroit in behalf
of the building fund of Moatzoth
Hapoaloth, which is erecting 25
new homes to house 8,000 chil-
dren in Palestine.

Program in Form
Of Mlava Malka

Cultural Series Event Planned
in the Spirit of Saturday
Night Tradition

A program designed to re-
capture the spirit of the Satur-
day night will be the next event
in the public cultural series spon-
sored by the Joint Yiddish cul-
ture committee of the Jewish
Community Council and Jewish
Center.
The program, in the form of a
Mlava Malka, is scheduled for
Saturday, Feb. 2, at 9 p. m., in
the Center auditorium.
The program will be conducted
with the audience seated at-
tables, and partaking of the tra-
ditional Mlava Malka "seuda."
Local talent will participate, in-
cluding Abraham Twersky, teach-
er, poet and interpretater of
chassidic lore; Cantor Robert
Tullman, who will sing tradition-
al• Sabbath night songs; Sadie
Cooper Braver, violinist, and
members of the Center Modern
Dance Group. I. Zemel will be
master of ceremonies.
Tickets have been distributed
among the constituent organiza-
tions of the Community Council
which support this series of pro-
grams. Tickets go on sale at
the door after 9 p. m.

igan has announced the appoint-
ment of Mrs. Birdie Rosenberg, of
