- Capt. Joseph Carp is 'home on terminal leave after three and
a half years in the U. S. Army Medical Corps, 18 months over-
seas. He is with his wife, Reva, and son, Burton Lawrence, at
2628 Taylor. Open house in his honor will be held Saturday from

Mr. and Mrs. Myron Ginsberg of Traverse City, who are at-
tending the Steel convention at the Congress hotel, Chicago, will
continue to Los Angeles, Calif., for a months' stay. •
Miss Fern Skolnick entertained 20 guests at a dinner at Frame's
on Jan. 24 in honor of her 16th birthday.
Dr. and Mrs. Sanford A. Bennett will hold open house from
3 to 9 p. m. Sunday at 3272 Calvert, in honor of their new-born

Mrs. Gloria Baker and her son, Lt. Sidney Baker, recently dis-
charged from the army in California, have returned to their home
in Long Island, N. Y., after visiting her sister, Mrs. Louis Long-
sam, of Gladstone Ave. During her stay Mrs. Baker was enter-
tained by Mrs. Ely Robinson, Mrs. Leslie Mann, Mrs. Lena Gordon,
Mrs. Jack Lefton, Mrs. Harry Oberstein, Mrs. Max Kaplan, Mrs.
David Mark, Mrs. Bertha Moss, and her nieces, Mrs. Arthur Shaw
and Mrs. A. R. Brasch.
Mr. and Mrs. M. Manuel Helfman, formerly of Chicago Blvd.,
have moved to 2974 Richton Ave. They will entertain their friends
at an open house on Sunday, Jan. 27, 2 to 6 p. m., on the occasion
of the first birthday of their son, David Lewis. No cards.
Mrs. Joseph Schwartz and son, Stuart, have returned to their
home on Whitmore Rd. after a seven-week stay in Miami Beach.
Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Fisher of St. Mary's Ave. entertained in
honor of the 16th birthday of their daughter, Dolores, at a theater
luncheon on Jan. 13. Hostesses were Barbara Mann and Joan Fields.
Mr. and Mrs. Harry Bluestein of Carter Ave. will entertain 75
guests at dinner at the Book-Cadillac Hotel on Jan. 26 in honor of
the 16th birthday of their daughter, Irene.
Mr. and Mrs. Nathan Rubin of 18614 Fairfield will have open
house from 8 to 11 p. m. on Saturday, Feb. 2, in honor .of their
daughter, Lois Ruth, and her fiance, Philip Begun.
Mr. and Mrs. Adolph Moss of Fullerton Ave. entertained at a
buffet dinner at their home for 45 guests in honor of their children,
Mr. and Mrs. Leonard W. Moss (Beebe Gottesman), from their re-
turn from their wedding trip. The wedding took place Dec. 2.
Lt. Col. and Mrs. Henry Siegel have returned to Detroit and
are now residing at 17526 Santa Rosa. Lt. Col. Siegel is on terminal
leave, having been released from service with the medical corps
of the U. S. army.
After residing in New York for several months, Miss Marian
Lewis, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Sol Lewis of 3219 Webb, has
returned to her home here.
Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Levine and daughter, Marian, of Santa
Barbara Dr. entertained at a reception in honor of the forth-
coming marriage of Divida Feishman and Max Scheininger. Guests
included Mrs. Betty Alex of Chicago. Mr. and Mrs. Abe Chaitman
and daughter of Mt. Clemens, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Lubin of Chicago,
Lt. and Mrs. Ben Binderman, on leave from Memphis, Tenn. A
musical program featured Alvin Goldstein, vocalist, and George
Shaw at the piano.
Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin Goldstein of LaSalle Blvd. have left
for Hot Springs, Ark., for a three-week visit at the Arlington Hotel.
Mr. and Mrs. Richard Gorback of Monterey Ave. will have open
house on Sunday, Jan. 27, from 3 to 7 p. m. honoring their daughter,
Rosalie, on her graduation from Central m., School.
Mr. and Mrs. David Arnold, whose marriage took place Dec.
27, are now at home at the LaSalle Apartments, on West Phila-
delphia. The bride is the former Vivian Louise Cason, daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. J. Cason, of Covington, Ky. Mr. Arnold, recently
discharged from the Army Air Force, is the son of Mr. and Mrs.
Phillip Arnold, 2909 W. Philadelphia.
In honor of the Bar Mitzvah of Richard Karson, son of Mr.
and Mrs. Jack David Karson, a dinner was given at the Park
Ave. Hotel on Jan. 13.. -
Mrs. Albert Davis of EWald Circle, has left for an extended visit
with, her family in San Bernardine, California.
Mr. and Mrs. Isadore Bloom of 3831 Webb will hold open house
for relatives and friends on - Sunday, Jan. 27, in honor of their son,
Lt. Jerome P. Bloom, who has recently been discharged from the
USAAF, and his wife, Charlotte.
Mrs. William Bronstein of Philadelphia, Pa., is visiting with her
cousin, Mrs. William Staller of 3353 Fullerton.
Mrs. Harry Becker addressed the Milwaukee chapter of ORT
on Tuesday. Upon her return she left by plane for New York
with Mr. Becker for a week-end stay at the Waldorf.
Mr. and Mrs. Saul Rose of 1616 W. Boston Blvd. will hold open
house in honor of the 45th wedding anniversary of Mr. Rose's
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Rose, on Sunday, Feb. 3, from 4 to

Mrs. Clarence Enggass of Cumberland Way left on Wednesday
for New York City where she will be joined by her son, Robert,
who recently was graduated from Harvard. College. After a short
stay they will go on to Palm Beach, Fla.
Mr. and Mrs. Ralph S. Shroder of Birmingham are spending a
week in New York City.
Mrs. Jack Rothberg and her daughter, Doris Lee, of Chicago
Blvd. left by plane for a vacation in Miami Beach and in Havana
where they will be guests at Hotel Nationale.
S/Sgt. Bud Rosenthal, who has been in service 3 1k years, in-
cluding six months in the Pacific area, has received his discharge
and is at home with his parents,- Mr. and Mrs. Louis Rosenthal of
the Belcrest Hotel. • .

turned from a few days' stay in Chicago.
