member of the faculty of Temple
Beth El Religious School, and
club leadership for Detroit
Young Judaea and the Jewish
Center.
Educated in the Detroit public
schools, and a graduate of the
United Hebrew Schools, he holds
a master's degree from Wayne
University, and taught social
studies for seven years in the
local public school system.
Shaw's naval service included
18 months as gunnery officer on
armed guard service aboard
Liberty ships. Promoted to full
lieutenant early in 1944, he
served for the remainder of the
war as Landing Craft Control
Officer for Amphibious Trans-
port Squadron 21, in a zone of
operations including Hawaii,
Eniwetok, Leyte, Panay, Oki-
nawa and Korea.
He was married to Lillian
Ketai of Detroit in 1936 and
lives with his wife and three sons
at 2074 Gladstone.
