Conference Views
Revealed by Monsky
Unrestricted JeWish immigra=
tion and the establishment of a
free and democratic Jewish Com-
monwealth was urged at Tues-
day's hearings by the American
Jewish Conference; whose, spokes-
man, Henry Monsky of Omaha,
Neb., said he voiced the views
of the overwhelming majority of
American Jewry.
Mr. Monsky pointed out that
this request represented "stated

Wins Over Hundreds
On this tour, Mr. Lipkin ap-
peared in concerts in England,
France, Germany, Belgium, Lux-
embourg and Holland. Hundreds
of pianists were auditioned by
Heifetz before he selected the
Detroiter.
Young Lipkin has been praised
by Serge Koussevitzky, Eugene
Ormandy, Efrem Zimbalist, Pia-
tygorsky and others. In 1937 he
won top honors in the Michigan
State contest sponsored by the
National Federation of Music
Clubs and appeared with the De-
troit Civic Orchestra. In 1938 he
appeared in coast-to-coast ,broad-
casts.
At the age of 11 he won a
scholarship to the Curtis Insti-
tute of Music in Philadelphia. He
conducted the Detroit Symphony
Orchestra last ' April. He is a
graduate of -Hutchins Intexmedi-
ate, 1940, and Northern High,
1943, with a cum laude diploma.
He also attended University of
Pensylvania.
