American prosecutors placed before the
ilhelm Hoettl, assistant to Ernest Kaltenbrunner, who was former hold a special pre-campaign rally
hief of the Nazi Security Police, stating that "approximately for all delegates, co-workers and
,000,000 Jews have been killed in the various extermination camps,
hile an additional 2,000,000 met death in other ways, the major
art of which were shot by operational squads of security police
iring the campaign against Russia.
Hoettl said that his estimate was based on figures submitted
o him by Adolf Eichrnan, Palestine-born Nazi who was the chief
xterminator of Jews for the secret police.
Major Frank Walsh, assistant U. S. prosecutor, also presented
o the court a detailed record of how thousands of Jews were
iped out during the liquidation of the Warsaw Ghetto.
A film, called the "Nazi Plan," which was shown in court
arlier as a part of the evidence, left no doubt that not only the
azi leaders, but the entire German nation, was guilty of the
rsecution. of the Jews. The film told a graphic story of how
rowds of Germans hysterically applauded speeches by the Nazi
eaders calling for the annihilation of Jews, and how they helped
he Nazis to carry out their anti-Jewish program.
Major Walsh, who presented the "Jewish case," told the court
hat no crime in history was as cruel as the Nazi persecution of
ews. He presented a huge volume of evidence; including a
iary of Hans Frank, Nazi governor of Poland, in which the an-
ihiliation of all Jews was urged. One entry in the diary revealed
hat in December, 1941, Frank sent a memorandum to Hitler ask-
ng his permission to seize all Jewish home furnishings in Paris

British Soldiers Ordered
To Shun Palestine Jews
NEW YORK (JPS)—British
soldiers in Palestine have been
forbidden to fraternize with
Jews, according to the secret Pal-
estine Hebrew bulletin Eshnab,
which carries frequent advance
information on the anti-Zionist
designs of British officials and
Arab politicians. Der Yiddisher
Kemfer, weekly organ of the
Labor Zionist Party in the U. S.,
reprints the following informa-
tion from a recent issue of Eshnab
just received in this country:
"The soldiers were told that there
is a possibility that they might
have to fight the Jews—the
euphamism Palestinians was dis-
carded, the reference was direct-
ly to Jews, Eshnab reports."
the agenda for the opening con-
ference to be held at the Brown
Memorial Chapel has been com-
pleted. In addition to the key-
-note address by Helen Waren,
stage and radio star, who was
the first woman to visit the
European concentration camps
after V-E day, the program will
include greetings from the repre-
sentatives of all Detroit's Jewish
communal- groups, musical num-
bers and important committee
reports and Conference resolu-
tions.
500 Polish Jews Reaching Berlin Daily
BERLIN, (JTA)—The number of Jews fleeing from Poland to
erlin in the hope of reaching the American zone in Germany has
ncreased from an average of 200 a day to about 500, it was report-
d by Ilyn. Dijour, secretary general of the Hias.
Dijour, who arrived in Berlin last week to study the problem
f the Jews escaping from Poland, said that during his stay here
e has • interviewed hundreds of men, women and children who
'mile from Poland, and disregarded all but eye-witness reports.
11 of the refugees, he said, described the situation in Poland as
eing similar to that in the Ukraine in 1919 during the Petlura
ogroms. Sbme stressed that the Warsaw Government is actively
terested in protecting and helping the Jews, but is powerless
gainst a population which is 100 percent anti-Jewish:
"The situation should be of the greatest concern to American
ewry," Mr. Dijour warned. "The large and steady influx of new-
y displaced Jews makes the situation in the camps for Jewish refu-
ees even worse than one can imagine. All the community houses
n Berlin are inadequate to shelter the arriving Jews. Many of
hem are compelled to sleep three in one bed and often on the
oor without blankts, under unsanitary conditions."

aplains recently returned from
-rvice in Europe and the Pacific.
Chaplain Schachter told of ar-

entration camp a few hours
fter American tanks entered the
wn. He found more than 4,500
ewish prisoners, 1,000 of them
chil4ren, among the thousands of
displaced persons there. Condi=
tions in the camp _were pitiful:,
he said, and the American Army
moved M immediately, setting up
a hospital and other facilities.
In welcoming the group on
their return to this country,
Frank L. Weil, JWB president,
expressed the pride which the
organization' as ..a representative

work of the chaplains. -
He: pointed out that the . Am-
erican. Army in World War I,
one-third of the size of the
present . ._force, had 26 Jewish
chaplains, while in the recent
war there were over 300 rep-
resentatives of the Jewish faith
in the chaplaincy of the army,
navy, marine corps and merchant
marine. This large number of
Jewish chaplains, he said, is a
testimony to the zeal of the Am-
erican rabbinate..
