Gewerkshaften
Campaign Rally
Hears Dr. Traub

World, Zionist Leader Inspires
Campaign for $125,000
for. Histadrut Work

Inaugurating a ' series of im-
portant* rallies in the interest of
the GeWerkshaften campaign of
the Detroit Palestine Histadrut
Committee, Dr. Michael Traub,
world Zionist leader, addressed
a luncheon of workers on Mon-
day at the Statler. Morris Lieb-
erman presided.
Dr. Traub pointed out that any
solution to the Jewish problem
would require the normalization
of their political, cultural and
social life. Palestine alone offers
the Jew a chance to live a com-
plete and normal life, and to
rise above the unhealthy role of
the "middle-man" that he has
been forced to assume for so
many years. He described the
vision and efforts of the Histad-
rut in helping shape a "way of
life" in Palestine whereby the
Jews freely participated in the
communal agriculture and in
private industry.
Call to Organizations
The campaign committee an-
nouncei - that a call has been sent
to all organizations to select rep-
resentatives to the city-wide con-
ference of Jan. 6, which officially
will open•the campaign. The call
points *out' that we as Jews "must
mobilize all our • forces here to
strengthen the hands of the His-
tadrut, and demand the opening
of •Palestine to our tortured and
homeless brothers and sisters.
We must wholeheartedly throw
our strength into the fight for
our right to build Palestine as
a Jewish., commonwealth."
Morris L. Schaver, chairman of
the Detroit Palestine Histadrut
Committee, states that favorable
response's have already- been re-
ceived froM many of the 110 fra-
ternal and benevolent organiza-
tions *lib- haVe activelY partici-
pated in_ the campaign. He urges
that all organizations select their
delegates immediately since "Our
solemn pledge to raise $125,000
in this year's campaign is a re-
sponsibility that all- Detroit Jews
will want to share in." The cam-
paign office is located at 9142
Linwood. Call TY: 7-8225 for in-
formation.
