Vacancies on the Board of Di-
rectors of the. Jewish Community
Center were filled by the election
at the last meeting of the board,
on Dec. 4, of Emil T. Stern, Ben
F. Wigder and Jay Rosenshine,
announces Samuel H. Rubiner,
president of the Center.
"These men," stated Mr. Rubin-
er, "have all been active in the
affairs of the Center_ over a pe-
riod of years."
Mr. Stern has been chairman
of the committee on intermediate
activities, Mr. Wigder is chairman
of the committee on'publicity and
public relations, and' Mr, Rosen-
shine has been active in the 'af-
fairs of the Yiddish. culture com-
mittee. and. was closely" associated
with Louis. LaMed, former chair-
Man of the committee and a
member of the Center. .Self.Study
Committee.
Mi-. Stern is a graduate *of the
University of Michigan, where he
was active in Jewish student af-
fairs. He.has had a long protes-
•sional experience in summer
camping. At the Center he has
been instrumental in developing
the program of the teen age •e-
partment features at the Inter-
mediate Lounge and Canteen and
extension activities in the D. W..
.- Simons .Hebrew School and the
Bagley Public School. Associated
with his brother-in-law, Harvey
H. Goldrrian, Mr. Stern has also
been active in the Allied Jewish
Campaign and the Detroit Serv-
ice Group. The Sterns have a son,
' Louis Martin, 71/2, and reside at
18665 Muirland.

Mr. Wigder, a member of the
staff of the 'Detroit News, has
been identified with the. Center
for several years, more •recently
as a member of the publicity
committee and now as its chair ,
man. He is a graduate of the
University of Wisconsin. Recent-
ly, he married the .C_enter's for-
mer director of women's activi-
ties, Miss 'Edith-
JaY Rosenshine has followed
the cultural and educational. prO-
grams of the Center for years..
He = is' president of the Sholem
Aleichem Folks Institute, a mem-
ber of the executive committee
of the Jewish Community Coun•-
cii and is active in Jewish cul-
tural -programs, particularly those
of the Yiddish Scientific Insti-
tute.
