Anti-Semites Carry On
On the second page of this issue of

a warning by a Christian minister against
the anti-Semitic Christian Front whose
leaders continue to carry on a propaganda

was surprised by U. S. Senator William E.
Langer's plea for racial and religious toler-
ance and for Jewish rights in Palestine was
silent! The anti-Semites wanted to hear an
attack upon the Jews, and Sen. Langer
shocked them with his statements demand-
ing justice for the Jews!
It was not a large audience. A hall ac-
commodatnig 2,000 was half filled. But the

lights?
The prayer reads: "Blessed are Thou, 0 Lord
Our God, King of the Universe, who has sanction-
ed us with Thy commandments and commanded
us to kindle the Sabbath lights." As the light is
not to be enjoyed before the blessing, the Jewish
mother first covers her eyes with her hands before
lighting the candles.
Why is it customary to place some earth
inside of the casket of the Jewish dead?
The original statement of the Bible in regard
to death is preserved in the ceremony of placing
earth inside of the casket. "Dust thou art and to
dust thou shalt return" has been the insistence
of the Bible. No better impression could be
made upon the minds of those who attend the ser-
vice to display the fact that beautiful caskets are
meaningless, for man's eventual end in the
physical world is the dust that he is made of.

Children's Corner
Dear Boys and Girls:
Hanukah is over, and the spirit of Christmas
is in the air.
Many of our people often become disturbed
because the Christmas spirit seems to embrace
everything.
Well, we must recognize that we live among
Christians for whom - this is the most important
period of the year. And I suppose we should- be
pleased that in this great land Christmas is used
as an occasion to emphasize the ideal of good will
among all men.
Let us encourage this ideal and let us help
to strengthen the good will thoughts of brother-
hood.
And if we desire to keep our own faith strong,
let us make certain that we keep alive our own
ideals. Hanukah should be beautified with home,
school and community celebrations. Next we
should prepare to celebrate Hamisha Asar b'She-
vat, Purim, Passover and the forthcoming other
holidays in the happiest. spirit.
And we should always keep- in mind to make
the Sabbath beautiful.
A very pleasant Sabbath to all.
UNCLE DANIEL.

we should feel elated.
Mrs. Alofsin, whose name has become well
known among . the writers . for Jewish young
people in America, has produced another work
addressed to young Jewish adults. Her • story
deviates from the usual in that she lays her
scene not in one of the large cities of the United
States but in the surroundings of a small farm-
ing community.
The Jewish family which forms the center of
the story is attempting to establish itself on the
soil. So eager, in fact, is the father of the
family to make a success of his farm that, de-
