Feuer, spiritual leader of Toledo's Collingwood Ave. Temple, will be the guest speaker of_ Temple Beth El at the Sabbath Eve services at 8:15 p.m. Friday, Dec. 14. 'Rabbi Feuer was graduated from Hebrew Union College in 1927 and for eight years was •as- M.stant to Rabbi Abba Hillel Sil- Ver in Cleveland. In 1935 he was called to Toledo to serve the Col- 1ingwood Ave. -Temple. Active in communal affairs throughout the country, he is the author of several books and holds prorry7 inent posts in national organiza- tions. The liturgical music will • be rendered by the Temple Quar- tet, under the direction of Jason Tickton. A social hour Under the auspices of the Sisterhood will follow. Sabbath morning services will be held from 11 to 12: Rabbi Davin Schoenberger of Pontiac will officiate. Dr. B. Benedidt Glazer' will be in San Francisco to speak at the 95th anniversary service • and banquet at Temple Emanu-El. Dr. Glueck to Speak At Temple Beth El on Palestine,' Tuesday Dr. Nelson Glueck, world fam- ous archaeologist, will deliver an address on "Palestine" before the Men's' Club of Temple Beth El next Tuesday evening, in the au- ditOrium 'of Temple Beth EL Dr. Glueck, who has participat- ed in the most important excava- tions in Palestine, will illustrate his lecture with pictures he has taken in Palestine and will pre- sent a view of the country that has 'not' been seen before by a lo- cal audience. Having lived in Palestine among Jews and Arabs since 1936, Dr. Glueck is in position to give a most illuminating address on a subject on which he is an outstanding authority. New Class for Boys At 2 UHS Schools A new class for boys between the - ages of 14 and 16 recently was organized at the David W.: Simons and Bagley Branches of the United • Hebrew Schools. These classes meet on Mondays and Tuesdays, between 7 and 8 p. m. The program for this gtoup is reading and chanting of prayerS, discussion of current JeWish problems, JeWish history and •JewiSh customs - and ceremonies, and Jewish agencies and institu- tions. . Auerbach has re- signed from his pulpit in Port Huron to accept a call as rabbi to St. Joseph, Mo., where he will also take charge of the,United Hebrew schools as educational and executive director. Rabbi and Mrs. Auerbach, and their three daughters plan to leave Port Huron by the end of December. Windsor Council Ladies Raise $5,000 in Drive Approximately $5,000 w a s raised by the Ladies Division of the Jewish Community Council in the Windsor Welfare. Federa- tion's drive for $75,000, it was announced at the organization's' luncheon held at Shaar Hasha- mayim synagogue last week. The group was further en- lightened as to the plight of European Jewry by a stirring talk delivered by Miss Zelda 'Rosenthal of Detroit. Rabbi B. Groner gave the in- vocation. Mrs. M. Lachman, 19161 Manor, arrived Friday from the Southwest Pacific. Lt. Lachman was graduated from Cooley High and was as- sociated with the Madison Com- pany, • Inc. He entered service with the 107th Observtaion Squadron in October, 1940, was sent to flying school in 1942 and was commissioned a 2nd lieuten- ant in the spring of 1943 with the aeronautical rating of Pilot Dr. Crane to Speak and Combat Observer. On March 26 Irving,David- son, humorist, will be featured, Scholarship Fund To Honor Memory Of Maj. Max Weil A memorial in the form of scholarship to Wayne University is being established by the Cam- pus Club Alumni to honor the memory of Maj. Max Weil, one of 'the outstanding heroes in the early defense of the Philippines. Maj. Weil was the recipient of the Silver Star for gallantry, in action and the Purple Heart. He had been commissioned in 1940 and ordered to Manila in April, 1941. Following the fall of . Ba- taan, he was captured in Manila in 1942 and died in a Japanese prison camp. Dr. S. M.
