Jews 67% of 250,000 Refugees
Admitted in Last 11 Years

NEW YORK (JPS)—Jews con-
stitute 67.6 per cent of the 250,-
000 refugee immigrants admitted
into the United States from 1933
to. 1944, Dr. Maurice R. Davie,
'chairman of the Department of
_Sociology at -Yale University, and
an authority on immigration, dis-
closed at a meeting of the board
of the Yiddish Scientific Institute
here. The percentage of Jews
does not include an appreciable
number of Christians who were
declared Jews by Nazi decree.

1,000 Enter Palestine
Despite Expired Visas

• NEW YORK—One thousand
immigrants, many of them sur-.
vivors of Oswiecim and Traiisni-
stria, entered Palestine Oct. 26,
on the S. S. Transylvania, a Rom-
anian steamer, according to Dr.
Joseph C. Hyman, executive vice-
chairman of the Joint Distribu-
tion Committee.
Passage was provided by the
JDC, Dr. Hyman announced; re-
vealing • that more than - 5,000
Jews already had been brought
to Palestine this year by JDC.

"Short History of Zionism", was
held Nov. 1. The second, on
"Zionism Personalities", will take
place next Thursday, from 10:15
a. m. to 12 noon. The entire
course is being given at the
Jewish Center, with the final
lectures on Nov. 15 and 29.

Convention Delegates

Detroit Junior Hadassah, at a
meeting held Oct. 25 at the War-
dell Sheraton, elected delegates
and alternates to the 25th annual
national convention.
