Illegally in Large Numbers Special Cables to The Jewish News LONDON. (JTA)—Dr. Chaim Weizmann, •who was expected to leave for the U. S. this weel, decided to postpone his visit until the beginning of next week. His . desire to remain in London. until "certain developments" occur, particularly the long-expected pronouncement of policy on Palestine by Prime Minister Attlee, is given as the chief reason for the delay. Jewish Agency circles here refused to comment on Secretary of State Byrnes' announcement of the U. S. attitude towards the Palestine problem, pointing 'out that it is a matter that must be -handled by American Zionists. However, they consider the an- nouncement to be a logical sequence to the constant consultations between American and British authorities and the various Arab states. Replying to the request in the House of Commons by Major Ernest Guy Lloyd that a Parliamentary commission be sent to Palestine to investigate the existing situation there and `'contact the principal antagonists before 'a government decision is announced," Mr. Attlee on Tuesday reiterated that a statement will be made in the near future, and he urged that no action be taken until then. `Voice of Israel' Broadcasts Jammed JERUSALEM. (JTA)—A battle of the air waves is developing here, with the underground "Voice of Israel" station of Haganah, which came on the scene about two weeks ago, meeting stiff op- position from the unidentified anti-Zionist station broadcasting in Hebrew. The new - station keeps broadcasting into appeals broadcasts to Arabs by "Voice of Israel." It has succeeded in jamming many of its broadcasts. Meanwhile, Irgun Zvai Leumi announced on Tuesday that a clandestine transmitter under its auspices will, be- gin operating on a regular schedule next week. The broadcast on Tuesday on the Haganah station, referring to Ibn Saud's letter to Roosevelt, points out that although the Jews are well armed, they have no intention of attacking Arabs "but will defend themselves against aggression." The Arab newspaper Al Diffa, published in Jaffa, has appealed to neighboring. Arab countries to organize mass illegal immigra- •tion of Arabs to Palestine, the Beirut radio reports. The broad- cast says that according, to reliable sources Arab infiltration into Palestine is proportionately higher than Jewish illegal immigration. Wise, Silver Confer with Byrnes . WASHINGTON. (JTA)—Drs. Wise and Silver saw Secretary Byrnes Tuesday morning. They had a 40-minute "thorough dis- cussion" on Palestine and reported the interview to be "entirely satisfactory."
