VHS Women Hold
Meeting Wednesday
ACTIVITIES IN SOCIETY
Mr. and Mrs. S. L. Weller of Wildemere Ave., honored their son,
Herbert, on his Bar-Mitzvah, with a dinner dance, at the Park
Avenue Penthouse, on Oct. 7.
The children of Mr. and Mrs. Max Goldstein of 2210 Pingree
Aveti will honor them with a reception, in celebration of their
golden wedding anniversary, Sunday, Oct. 28. Four generations of
relatives and friends will be present.
Mr. and Mrs. A. M. Levenberg of Fairfield Ave. will attend
the graduation of their daughter, Madeleine, from the University
of Michigan, this Saturday.
Mr. and Mrs. B. Singer of 3239 Clements will be at home from
8 to 12 p. m. this Friday, Oct. 19, in honor of their son, Eli, who
has returned from five and a half years service overseas.
Sixteen Wayne University students, leaders in campus activ-
ities, will be listed in the current edition of Who's Who Among
Students of American Colleges and Universities. They include
Leonard Baruch, 1994 Blaine; Ruth M. Levine, 3742 Cortland;
Leonard Zubroff, 2721 Taylor. The group was. selected by a com-
mittee of three faculty members and three students, headed by Dr.
Margaret Ruth Smith, counselor in student -activities.
Mr. and Mrs. Joseph L. Snitman of 2447 Fullerton will hold
open house from 7 to 10 p. m. Sunday, Oct. 21, in honor of their
son, Sam, who recently returned from 33 months overseas service.

Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin Schwartz of Sturtevant ., announce the
graduation, on Oct. 20, of their twin daughters, Arlene and Selma,
from the University of Michigan.
Walter H. Plaut, acting rabbi of Temple Emanuel, Duluth Minn.,
was chosen by the local Zionist Emergency Committee to represent

Yanich, whose parents, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Yanich, reside at 2319

Two brothers, Capt. Harry L. Freedman and Capt. John Freed-
man, who have been with the U. S. Army for several years, both
serving in the European Theater, have recently received their dis-
charge and are now at home with their families. Capt. Harry L.
Freedman and family reside . at 2247 Taylor, and Capt. John Freed-
man and family residing at 1925 Longfellow.
Mrs. Samuel Green of Calvert Ave. was hostess at a tea honor-
ing the public relations committee of the Women's - Division of
the American Jewish Congress on Oct. 12.
Miss Estelle. Blumenthal of W. Buena Vista Ave. has left for
an extended stay in Texas and California. •
Mr. and Mrs. I. Mellin will hold open house Saturday evening,
Oct. 27, at their home, 4243 Leslie, to welcome their son, Milton,
who has just been discharged from the army, and their son-in-law,
Jacob Kulchar, who has been discharged from the navy. No cards.
Lt. Leonard B. Stone, who has served three years with the
U. S. Army Air - Force, including six months in the ETO, has' re-
ceived hiS discharge and is at home with his 'parents, Mr. and Mrs.
Dave B. Stone of Chicago Blvd.
Sgt. Sidney Radow, who has served with the U. S. Army for
the last 21i years, • has received his discharge. He and Mrs. Radow
returned from Los Angeles and are for the present makinig their
