Beth El this Saturday morning,
at 10:30. Dr. B. Benedict Glazer
will preach and the Temple
Quartet under the direction of
Jason H, Tickton will render the
liturgical music.
'The Religious School this year
will inauguarte a Consecration
Ceremony for the children of the
Kindergarten and First grades
which officially will signify their
entrance into the studies of
Judaism.
The ceremony will be held on
Sunday morning, Sept. 30, which
is known in Jewish tradition as
Simhat Torah. The children will
march down the aisles, carrying
miniature Torahs, a gift of the
Temple. They will mount the
altar in the Main Auditorium
and after a pledge to the teach-
'- ings of Judaism they will be
blessed by Dr. Glazer.

To Hold Party for
Children Saturday
The Simhat Torah Festival of
Northwest Hebrew Congregation
and Center will be held at the
Bagley School, Curtis and Rose-
lawn, Saturday evening, at 6:30
p. n.A. The children will be given
gifts by the Sisterhood and will
enjoy the traditional flag march-
ing.
The evening will also be the
occasion of the installation of
newly elected officers, headed
by Ira G. Kaufman as president,
: Max Goldsmith and Sam Katkin,
vice-presidents; Charles Charlip,
treasurer; Meyer Rubin, secre-

During Sukkoth, leaders of
various religious faiths were en-
tertained in the Sukkah of Dr.
S. S. Auerbach in Port Huron.
On the second day of Sukkoth,
two classes of the Sunday School
of the First Congregational
church visited Rabbi Auerbach's
Sukkah, The Part Huron Minis-
terial Association and a group of
YMCA leaders also were guests
of the Auerbachs.
This Friday night, Dr. Auer-
bach will speak on "A Modern
Revival." Mt. Sinai synagogue
also will conduct Shemini Atzeret
memorial and Simhat Torah
services.
The congregation was ad-
dressed by Chaplain Herbert S.
Eskin who has returned from
Europe.
On Sukkoth, Sam Adinoff re-
ported on the recent good will
meeting.
On Sept. 21, Dr. Auerbach gave
a Sukkoth broadcast over the
Bliie Water Station.

Next Thursday, at 8:30 p. m.,
Yeshivath Beth Yehudah will
celebrate the formal opening of
the new annex on the east side
of Dexter Blvd., between Cort-
land and Sturtevant. The guest
speaker will be Chaplain Her-
shel Shachter who is flying in
from Camp Bowie, Texas, where
he is stationed,
Rabbi Shachter is a graduate
.of the Isaac Elchanan Theolo-
gical Seminary and Yeshiva Col-
lege. Before enlisting for ser-
vice, he held a pulpit at Stanfort,
Conn. He was one of the first
Jewish Chaplains to enter Ger-
many, and his activities among
the survivors of European Jewry
have been widely acclaimed.
The program was arranged
by David I. Berris, Morris Kar-
bal, Max Weisberg and Louis
Tatken.,
The occasion will also mark
the beginning of the new school
year at Yeshivath Beth Yehudah,
with registration in all depart-
ments—Kindergarten, Day
School, . Intermediary Groups,
Afternoon Yeshivah, and Beth
Jacob School for Girls—already
reaching an all-time high.
A citizen's committe, consist-
ing of Louis Tatken, chairman,
Harry Kraft. Ben Lewis, Israel
Schwartz, Joseph Weisberg, Louis
Please. and Morris Gourwitz,
raised a substantial sum of mon-
ey among the residents of the
Russell Woods neighborhood as
an initial investment to purchase
the annex and the title was given
to the Yeshivah.
Six classrooms will be avail-
able by Oct. 4, 1945. They will
be used by the Intermediate stu-
dents, some of the Day School
classes, the Beth Jacob School
for Girls, and by the overflowed
classes of the Afternoon Yesh-
ivah.
