Survivors Reach Zion:

With the aid of the United Jewish Appeal, the S. S. Mataroa
brought 1,164 refugees to Palestine. These refug ees were a cross-section of Jews in vcar-ravaged
Europe who look to the UJA for a new future in a new home. Above, left: the flag of Zion

Homeward Bound:

prisoners of war, freed by the -Allied
nations' armies, are transported home by planes. The War
Prisoners Aid is one of the causes included in the War Chest
campaign. The War Chest campaign for $8,490,336; will be con-
ducted here Oct. 8-31. Volunteer workers are being enlisted
by the Allied Jewish Campaign, of the Jewish Welfare Fed-
eration, whose • 55 overseas, national and local causes are
