Hadassah Chapter Here Plans Women's Clubs
Busy Year in Behalf of Refugees
An active year is announced
by Detroit Chapter of Hadassah,
in line with the program of the
national organization for the re-
habilitation of Jewish refugees
who have come to Palestine in
broken health as a result of
their wanderings and the Nazi
persecutions.
Aiming to bring these reha-
bilitated people back to health,
national Hadassah has set a goal
of $1,100,000 for postwar health
work for the ey.pansion "of :ser,
vices of Hadassah Medical Cen-
ter which was erected on Mt.
Scopus in,.1 (139; for the building
of a new 200 bed tuberculosis
hospital; for increasing its ac-
tivities in the field of public
health, district medical nursing
home, institutional and convales-
cent care, infant welfare, school
hygiene, ; epidemic control and
the shipment of medical sup-
plies and equipment; and fOr
co-operation with other organi-
zations doing medical work in
Palestine.
These and other matters - of
vital importance will be dis-
cussed at the forthcoming joint
board meeting of all four De-
troit Hadassah groups on Tues-
day, Sept. 18. -

its doctors and nurses will meet,

tention in the Holy Land from
now on.
Palestine has . taken in the
largest number of Jewish refu
gees of any other country, and
has• done this regardless of their
condition uton arrival.

attended the recent World Zion-
ist Conference in London.

Indict Nazi Commandant

death camp and 46 of the camp
guards including 19 women, - have
been - jointly indicted by the
United- Nations War Crimes .Corn-_
mission in London on an official
charge of conspiracy to commit
mass murder.

WASHINGTON, (JTA)—Earl
G. Harrison, U. S. representative
on the Inter-Governmental Com-
mittee on Refugees, who re-
cently returned from a Six-weeks
mission to Europe to inquire into
the condition and needs of 'state-
less and non-repatriable persons,
including I00M0 "Jews of • all
nationalities in Germany, pre-
sented a detailed report to Presi-
dent Truman.
Declaring that - the President
manifested real intetest in the
report, Mr. Harrison said that the
President will take whatever
steps are necessary 'to bring about
an improved situation.
