ACTIVITIES IN SOCIETY

Major Harry August, who is on a- leave from his post at
Camp Blanding, Fla., is visiting with his family. Together with
Mrs. August and their children, Jimmie and Mary Ellen, who ar-
rived early in the summer, they are the house guests of • Mrs.
August's brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. Seymour Frank
of Wildemere Ave.
Mrs. Louis A. Schwartz and her sons, David, Jonathan and
Stephen, have returned to their home on Cambridge Rd. Lt.
Commdr. Schwartz has left for service in the Pacific.
Among the campers who have returned from Camp Pine Mere
at Minobqua, Wis., are Joan Fields, Anne Frank, Patricia and
Valerie Oppenheim and Joan Meyers.
Miss Isabel Wolfner, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Julian G.
Wolfner of Burlington Rd., has returned from Madison, Wis.,
where she attended the summer session at the University of
Wisconsin.

Miss Virginia Brown has returned from Madison. Wis., where
she attended the summer session of the University of Wisconsin.
Her sister, Margery, is expected home from Interloehen next Mon-
day. They are the daughters of Mr. and' Mrs. Philip Brown of
Wildemere Ave.
T/Sgt. Harold Cantor has returned to his post at Fort Sheridan,
111., after a week's furlough spent with his family.
Pfc. Clyde Cantor, who recently returned . from the ETO,
spent his 30-day furlough with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Louis
Cantor of Oakman Blvd., and is at present at Billings Hospital, Ind.
Capt. John Horwitz will be home from Camp Lockett, Cali-
fornia, to attend the Bar Mitzvah of his son, Frederick, at the
Shaarey Zedek, on Sept. 1.
Mr. and Mrs. Harry Glick of 18270 Pennington Dr. will be at
home Sunday, Aug. 26, from 8 to 10 in honor of the engagement of
their daughter, Irene, to Ralph Seltzer, son of Mr. and Mrs. A.
Joseph Seltzer of Atkinson Ave. No cards.
Mr. and Mrs. Rubin Goodman, their daughter, Eleanor, and
son, Leonard, of Fullerton Ave. have returned from Bloomington,
Ind., where they attended the graduation on Aug. 19 of their son,
Dr. Milton Goodman, from the Dental School of the University
of Indiana.

PRAGUE, (JTA)—Twenty-one
British planes at a Prague air-
field will be utilized to transport
300 Jewish orphans from Theres-
ienstadt to England, the Prague
radio announced.

o Import U. S. Goods

TEL AVIV, (JTA)—The Jew-
ish Agency expects to import this
year commodities from the U. S.
to the value of $10,000,000, it was
revealed here by representatives
of the Jewish Agency who stated
that the Palestine Government
agreed that part of the funds col-
lected in America by Jewish
groups for Palestine should be
spent in purchasing American
goods. However, purchases can
be made only of such articles
which cannot be bought in the
United Kingdom.

Yiddish Vaudeville Circuit
NEW YORK (JPS)—The first
Yiddish vaudeville circuit in
New York City will open this
fall at the Windsor Theater in
the Bronx and the National
Theater on the East Side, it was
announced here by Irving Jacob-
son and Irving Grossman, Jew-
ish actor-managers who will
jointly operate both houses.
