As president of the Jewish Center he had a great number of friends . . . All who knew him liked his pleasant ways . . . His smile was catching . . . As an active leader in the community he was respected by everyone ... He got things done . . . and was always quick to praise those who helped in any way. The heart that failed at 47 had a particular spot for the youth in the community . . It was his aim to cultivate a thoroughly rounded out prograni for the younger folks . . Only a few months ago, he mentioned to us about having some wonderful ideas along those lines . . . If they were anything like the ones he told us before, Jewish youth has suffered a tremendous loss. * * * LEAVE IT TO the guys in uniform to think up ways and means of putting over a practical - joke . . . Jerry Wetsman, softball start in the. The pitcher served him one of those soft lobs right over the platter and Jerry swung • . . at a nice ripe grapefruit colored to look like a softball ... His dungarees resembled a new-fangled break- fast dish . . and he swears he never did get all the seeds out of his mouth. * * * CAPT. NORMAN KOLIN came home a pretty much be-medalled young gent . . . He was a bomber pilot with the 8th Air Force .. . Won the Silver Star, Oct. 20, 1944, for some super doings over Holland . . .
