Of 20,000 Children
Palestine's Goal

Palestine is preparing for a large
scale youth immigration and has
plans in readiness for the im-
mediate absorption of .20,000
children from Europe, George
Landauer, treasurer of the Youth
Aliy a h (Youth Immigration)
Bureau of the Jewish Agency of
Palestine, stated at a reception
given at Dorchester House here
for Youth Aliyah representatives
from Palestine and America.
Mrs. Vera Weizmann, wife of
Dr. Chaim Weizmann, presided.
Dr. Chaim Weizmann, in a brief
address, stated that he had al-
ways followed with great atten-
tion, the work of the youth im-
migation bureau, and hopes that
youth immigation will constitute
an important element of the
forthcoming Palestine immigra-
tion.
Caroline Hazlett, adviser of
Women's Training -to the British
Ministry of Labor, who has just
returned from a visit to Pales-
tine, told of life in the communal
settlement, which deeply im-
pressed her. She spoke with ad-
miration of the scientific methods
of Jewish Palestine's agriculture.
In behalf of the Youth Aliyah
in Britain, Israel Feldman bid
farewell to Eva Michaelis, of the
Palestine bureau, who is return-
ing there after completing her
mission in Britain.

The marriage of Miss Shirley
Newman, daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. Louis J. Newman of the
Kentucky Hotel, Louisville, Ky.,
and Lt. Jerome S. Silberblatt, son
of Mr. and Mrs. Aaron A. Silber-
blatt of Detroit, was solemnized
at the Kentucky Hotel in Louis-
ville on July 30, Rabbi Jacob
Gittleman of Louisville, offiCiat-
ing.
The bride wore a gown of blue
grey crepe, street length, with
draped neck line 'and cap sleeve,
and carried a white satin Bible
topped with white orchids. Her
small grey felt hat was trimmed
in white. She was attended by
her father.
Miss Marjorie Silberblatt, sis-
ter of the groom, sang "At Dawn-
ing" and acted as maid of honor.
The father of the bridegroom
was best man as proxy for Lt.
Silberblatt's brother, Donald, who
is in Germany.

with her parents in Louisville
until her husband's return from
overseas duty, where he has now
been assign d.

of Ann Reibel, daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. Sidney Reibel of Hunt-
ington Woods, and RM 2/c Law-
rence Klein, son of Mr. and Mrs.
Milton Klein- of Louisville, Ky.,
was solemnized Sunday after-
noon, July 29, in Louisville.
Rabbi J. J. Gittelman performed
the ceremony in his study in the
presence of the immediate fam-
ilies.
The bride was charming in a
gown of white eyelet embroidery
fashioned with fitted bodice and
short full skirt. She wore a
wreath of orange blossoms and a
shoulder length veil and carried
a bouquet of red roses.
Robert Forst of Louisville was
best man.
The young couple left for
French Lick and will arrive in
Detroit Aug. 21. RM 2/c Klein
is on a 30-day leave after 18
months' service in Europe, and
will report for re-assignment.
Besides her parents, the bride's
three brothers, David, Daniel and
Karl, were in Louisville to attend
the wedding.

of the HEBREW LADIES AID
SOCIETY- will be held on Aug.
15, at 1 p. m., at the Dexter-

will preside. A card party is
scheduled for Tuesday, Sept. 25,
at '7:30 p. m. The annual donor
luncheon is set for Nov. 19. Bonds
and stamps are sold at each meet-
ing and the women are requested
to bring their waste fats.

Yugoslavia Denies Ban
On Emigration to Zion

LONDON (JPS-Palcor)—It is
reported here that the Tito Gov-
ernment is resentful of, and has
denied the rumor that it has
adopted an anti-Zionist policy
and prevents Yugoslav Jews
from emigrating to Palestine.
Official Yugoslav circles stress
that the Jews are not prevented
from proceeding to Palestine.
