The Long Road Home:

After years of terror and
flight, these Polish Jews are going home, carrying all their
worldly possessions. Those who returned found their homes
bombed or sold—their relatives dead or deported. For a chance
to build their lives they look to the Joint Distribution Com-
mittee and the United Palestine Appeal, two of the agencies
included in the reconstituted United Jewish Appeal.

Those Who Survive :

Only the oldest and the youngest
survived the Nazi terror—and these cling to each other while
their pleas for help are turned to the Joint Distribution Com-
mittee—for food, clothing, shelter, medical aid and a chance
for a decent life. Detroit Jewry helps them by providing funds
for the J.D.C. through the War Chest with whom the Jewish
Welfare Federation is affiliated in fund-raising campaigns.

Bring Good Will Message: Thousands of sailors at Mill-
ington Naval Air Base, Memphis, Tenn., heard a message of
good will from a group of inter-faith leaders representing the
Detroit Round Table of Christians and Jews. The meeting was
part of the war camp program of the National Conference of
Christians and Jews. The Millington good will team is shown
above, left to right: Dr. Herbert Beecher Hudnut, Woodward.

Miracle of 44th St.: tl e.

Al Cohen dances again with
hostess Marjorie Greenstein at
the Stage Door Canteen New
York, where, a few days before,
he wandered in on crutches. At
the earlier time, when asked
for a dance by Miss Greenstein,
he put his crutches aside and
surprised himself by dancing—
then left without the crutches.

Palestine at Their Mercy : The future

of Pal-
estine is in the hands of the Big Three who will discuss
the status of the Jewish National Home during their
meeting in Berlin. The eyes of the Jews of America,
the Yishuv of Palestine and the survivors from Hit-
lerism are fixed on the meeting of President Truman,
Prime Minister Churchill and Marshal Stalin. The
people of Israel prays that their decisions may lead
to the opening of Palestine's doors to Jewish settlers
and to peace and security for all Palestinians.
