NEW. YORK (JTA)—The Rab-
binical . Assembly's executive
committee adopted a resolution
protesting the "eNcommunica-
tion": of Dr. M. M. Kaplan by
the Union of Orthodox Rabbis.
Pointing out the difference of
opinion concerning Dr. Kaplan's
revised prayer • book, the As-
sembly said: . "The burning of
books by orthodox rabbis consti-
tuted a HiMil HaSherri and a
desecration of the Divine Name
which threatens to undermine
Judaism everywhere." The state-
ment added that the Orthodox
rabbis' action violates the feel-
ings of the overwhelming ma-
jority of American Jews.
