The ceremony took place in
the small prayer room of the
Shaarey Zedek. The portrait was
unveiled by the grandchUdren
of the late Mr. Zemon—Nathalie
and Stanley Zemon, daughter
and son of Mr. and Mrs. Julian
Zemon. •
Mrs. Joseph H. Erhlich made
the presentation in"behalf of
the family and briefly spoke of
Mr. Zemon's many community
interests, his lifelong devotion
to the Shaarey Zedek, the Zion-
ist cause and the Library of
Shaarey Zedek and his devoted
efforts to the board of Clover
Library, fold of the library's his-
tory, its growth during Mr.
Zemon's presidency from 1934
to 1944 and the place it occupies
as a part of the Shaarey Zedek
synagogue.
In the acceptance address,
Dr. A. M. Hershman spoke of
Mr. Zemon as a man who was
interested in all Jewish causes,
and as a leader who served many
of them faithfully and con-
scientiously. He told of the first
gift to the Shaarey Zedek of a
set of the Jewish Encyclopedia
which served as a beginning for
the library and outlined the
library's growth under Mr.
Zemon's direction as one of the
largest congregational libraries
in the land. The whole Jewish
community, he said, is the
clientele of the library.
