'Careers for Women' Topic of 3d
Tea Talk at Center on Sunday

"Careers For the Woman of
Today—And Tomorrow" is the
title of the third in a series of
tea-talks to be presented in the
Main Auditorium of the Jewish
Center next Sunday afternoon, at
3:30. Mrs. Mildred Jeffrey, dir-
ector of the Women's Bureau,
War Policy Division, UAW-CIO,
will be the guest speaker.
In her capacity as director,
Mrs. Jeffrey works to activize
women members of the union to
take action in expanding com-
munity facilities, such as nursery
schools and canteens, recreation
centers, food and shopping ser-
vices.
She is a member of the. Wayne
County ODT Committee on day
care of children, executive com-
mittee of the Detroit War Chest,
on the board of trustees of the
Visiting Nurses Association, and
on the board of directors of the
Peter Pan Nursery School. She
was formerly labor advisor of
War Production Board, Office of
Labor Production, Washington,
D. C.

Gloria Gertrude Glogower,
former president of the Jewish
Center, will preside at the tea-
talk. Mrs. Glogower is chairman
of various committees of the
National Jewish Welfare Board,

Sam Petok Honored

Membership in the Mackenzie
Honor Society, senior men's
honorary organization, was
awarded to Sam Petok, son of
Mr. and Mrs. H. Petok, 18010
Indiana, who is • graduating from
the College of Liberal Arts. Retir-
ing editor of the DetrOit Collegian,
Wayne's official student news-
paper, Petok was one of three
men tapped by the honor
society.
Petok was named to Who's
Who in American Colleges and
Universities for the second con-
secutive year last fall, and has
twice served on the University
Student Council, as well as be-
ing president of Pi Tau Sigma
fraternity, and a member of Pi
•Delta Epsilon, national honoary
journalistic fraternity. He has
been awarded a scholarship to
Medill Graduate School of
Journalism at NorthweStern Uni-
versity.
