SAN FRANCISCO—Sensational news of. Germany's uncondition
al surrender temporarily hat placed all United Nations' Security
Conference issues in the background and has created a new sense of
responsibility to the future of the world upon all delegations, con-
sultants and observers assembled here from all parts of the globe.,
Jewish leaders, rejoicing over the great news, have made it clear
that the duties of our people are increased by the victory for Demo-
cratic nations and that extreme effort will now have to Le made to
rescue the remnant of sttrviving Jews in Europe.
, With an estimated five Million Jews murdered by the Nazis and
only a million and half to two million remaining alive, Jewish leaders
declared here that all efforts must be intensified to speed rescue
work to provide facilities for Jewish rehabilitation and to strive for
assurances making it possible to settle tens of thousands of Jews in
the redeemed Jewish National Home.
War for Hainan Rights Continues
Jewish spokesmen here hailed the triumph of the United Nations
as inevitable victory for justiCe and they placed emphasis on the
belief that while the military war in Europe is over the war for
human rights continues.
Henry Monsky, president of Bnai Brith and an American Jewish
Conference consultant, declared that end of the war in Europe means'
the beginning of a new effort to reconstruct tragically broken Jewish
life in Europe and he also declared that the world, powers have the
responsibility to assist Jews in this great reconstruction effort.
Zionist leaders declared that the end of war calls for speedy
assurance to world Jewry that pledges made to facilitate establish-
ment of the Jewish homeland will be strictly adhered to and that
provisions will be made for large scale Jewish colonization in
Palestine.
Jubilation over victory was marked by a spirit of satisfaction in
Jewish ranks that the Jewish Brigade had an opportunity to fight
alongside the United Motions forces for world liberation from nazi
fascist tyranny.
Intensify Program for Bill of Rights
American JewiSh Committee leaders state_
its program for
securing an International Bill of Rights • will b intensified and that
its. European program initiated by Dr. Max Gottschalk will be ad-
vanced to the end of securing inter-governmental cooperation for
assuring human rights and justice for. the liberated peoples, a full
report on European program being expected when Dr. Gottschalk
arrives here during the coming few days.
Russian Foreign Commisar V. M. Molotov's statement Monday
declaring that the Soviet Government attached "greatest importance'
to agreements of the Big Four raised hopes of smaller nations on VE-
Day, especially in view of his emphasis on observance of justice and

Liberation for Mankind.

The victories achieved by the United Nations

on all fronts have been made possible by the loyalty

of our great nation whose response to the calls made

in every War Loan has supplemented the heroic work

spokesmen for the United Nations meet in solemn

`deliberations in San Francisco, our great responsibility

is to make the current bond drive — the 7th War

Loan, an even more impressive success than the

previous home front activities.

The 7th War Loan must serve as a signal to the

representatives of the United Nations to strive for

a lasting peace and for the perpetuation of the high

ideals enunciated in the principles for which so many

thousands have laid down their lives.

The faith which has made this land the leader in

the battle for justice gives us assurance that the 7th

War Loan will be fully subscribed,

with each one of us participating

the best of our abilities.
