-Mrs. Leon M. Zechman, presi-
dent of the Detroit League of the
National Home for Jewish
Children at Denver, announces
that preparations are being made
for the annual simultaneous card
parties at homes of members, on
May 23. Proceeds will be used to
support the activities of the
Denver Home.
Mrs. Raymond Smith of Santa
Barbara Drive is general chair-
man and is assisted by Mesdames
Samuel Schwartz, Arthur Gil-
bert, Frank Handler, Moe Leiter,
Edward Krause, Samuel Gordon,
David Ebner, Walter Arnoff and
Philip Greenwald.
In a statement issued this
week, Mrs. Zechman describes
the activities of the Denver
Home and points out that child-
ren from practically all states in
the Union have been treated
there and have been cured of
tuberculosis. Since 1940, she
pointed out, care of asthmatic
children has been instituted as a
new service.

European Welfare Group
Hears Report on Work
At Installation Meeting
Harry Stolsky, financial secre-
tary of the Jewish Women's
European Welfare Organization,
presented a detailed report at
the special installation meeting,
at the Bnai Moshe, April 18.
A resume of the past year's
activities was given by Mrs. R.
•Katzin, who was re-elected
president. Mrs. Ida Leland gave
the blessing.
Besides Mrs. Katzin as presi-
dent, the following other offi-
cers were installed: Mesdames
Sam Osnos, I. Israel, ' Golden,
Pleskof, Leland and Dorfman,
vice-presidents; Mrs. Ida Gold-
smith, treasurer; Mrs. I. Ger-
man, board secretary; Mes-
dames Lewis and Leventhal,
trustees.
A special board meeting wilt
be held next Wednesday at the

Our Deadline
The sixth annual AZA Spring
dance of the Detroit-Windsor
Council will take place at East-'
wood Gardens, Sunday evening,
May 20, according to an an-
nouncement issued by Donald
Fiekowsky, publicity chairman.
The committee, headed by
Harry Mirvis, president of the
Detroit-Windsor Council, an-
nounces that Bobby Baker and
his band will furnish the music.
Dancing will commence at 8:30
p. m. because of the curfew.

ORT to Raise $1,550,000
In the U. S. During 1945
NEW YORK, (JTA)---The sum
of $1,550,000 is to be raised by
the ORT in the United States
during 1945 as part of the $2,-
450,000 which the organization
intends to raise throughout the
world, it was announced here at
the annual meeting of the ORT
Council of Organizations held at
the Pennsylvania Hotel.
The Sisterhood of Northwest
Hebrew Congregation and Center
will hold • its Mother-Daughter
dinner Wednesday evening, May
9, at the Wilshire.
Mrs. Morris Adler will be
guest speaker and Rosina Betman
LaKritz will be guest vocalist.
The children of the Sunday
School wil present a two-act
play, "We Love You, Mother."
Mrs. Ira G. Kaufman is the
director.
